Gray Zone just released a couple of days ago into a closed beta alpha, mostly populated by streamers and content creators. Thanks to that, we have hours upon hours of gameplay... And some of the things we've seen are.. Concerning to say the least.

I’ve got about 35 hours in the game so far, I’ve been enjoying it a lot, it’s a great foundation and there is a lot that needs changing/adding but for an alpha experience it’s one of the best I’ve experienced

That’s great, I definitely don’t think the game looks bad. I think certain problems with it make it look worse than it is. But by no means do I think it’s bad. I think what I listed are just the kinks that need to be immediately worked out.

@@TootenTV yeah I definitely agree with most of it, there are a few locations around the map that feel rewarding once you wipe the ai, especially tiger bay and fort narith as they have locked rooms that do have some pretty nice loot (better headsets, gun builds etc). My main concern is the lz camping but I’ve seen quite a few suggestions on how they could fix it and I reckon they will have it sorted pretty soon

Another thing I’d definitely like to see change is the wipe system, as it stands it sounds like it’ll be the same approach as tarkov wipes however I don’t think that will work so well in this game, especially with it being so pve focused

Maybe they incorporate it in a way that makes sense while being similar. Make it story based or something, like different deployments.

I was lucky enough to get into the playtest even though I'm not a content creator, and currently 12 hours in I do agree with the points you're making. In fact, I'll also add optimization being needed - my rig is laptop RTX 3080 and desktop i9 11900K, and the game on 1440p medium settings and quality DLSS (you don't want any less or you won't see enemies in all these bushes) runs on 50fps max. Yes, I know it's an early stage of development, but they need to look into this if they want masses to play. But just like other people in this playtest, I am still having fun. Even solo.

From what I was reading, you need something like a 2080 or a 3080+ to run it well. Which is great for creators, because they have it. I do too, but that's because I'm dumb and bad with money. But it sucks for dudes on a budget running years old rigs that can't afford to upgrade.

@@TootenTV i imagine 2080 will not be enough if my 3080 struggles with fps. And I understand high end games being a thing, early access and all that... but if they don't optimize before releasing, I'm afraid they'll face a lot of bad reviews.

@@TehGM Wait, am I reading wrong? You said a laptop 3080? Because laptop GPUs and desktop GPUs are VASTLY different. I had a laptop with a 3080 in it, and my desktop had a 1660 super. My desktop still ran Tarkov better than my laptop. Anyway, yeah I completely agree. They should actually learn from Tarkov and understand that optimization is a HUGE thing.

@@TootenTV Yes, they're different but not that vastly different - performance wise, laptop 3080 is equivalent to low 3070 or high 3060 or something like that iirc. Which is shameful on NVidia considering that during 10xx series, laptop GPUs were basically within 10% of their desktop equivalent, and now it got worse. But it's definitely way way more powerful than the rigs most gamers have atm, which is where the worry comes from - most people definitely couldn't run current playtest comfortably.

I’m sharing an opinion based on watching HOURS of live gameplay. Seeing basically everything there is to see when it comes to the game. No I haven’t played the game, hence why I didn’t give an opinion on how the game FELT. I gave my opinion based on objective things we’ve seen that do not require someone to play the game.

Tarkovs sound is horrible and has always been horrible. It isnt great by any means or standards or sub-standards. This in the state its in (alpha) is great. I dont think I've seen a alpha this good in a while.

Oh I believe you. This alpha looks 10x better than Tarkov. Like I said to someone else here in the comments, the problems it has make the game look worse than it is. Because a few are/were pretty glaring. I think if those continue to get worked out, this game is going to be best bang for buck in recent years.
