NEW RULES! Playing Starship Battles with Star Wars Miniatures Rules!

In this video we dust of the 2006 game of Star Wars Starship Battles and rework the rules using Star Wars Miniatures! The result is a fun and exciting skirmish game that retains elements of the old game while making it much more fast-paced and entertaining! Go ahead and try out the new rules set for yourself. The bendy minis always drove me a little nuts, but I do have a silly amount of SWM ships... So, thank you for your effort to give this forgotten game some new zest. I'd recommend dropping the 'move OR shoot' mechanic (which feels contrary to the nature of air/spaceborne movement), in favour of something like Move x 2 OR Move & Shoot. (One can imagine the pilot slowing down as they must jink and jockey for a firing position.)

Great job as always! I'd use the flip side of the cards for damaged fighters to give it a bit more longevity but outstanding! Thanks!

Great idea! So ship work like no normal until damaged, and then the card is flipped. They can still operate, but as damaged. Next damage taken removes the ship from play. Brilliant! Maybe damage halves all movement and/or removes any attack bonuses (or something like that). Thanks for the feedback! I am going to combine all of this into a revised rules system in an eventually updated system!! 👍😊

Great game. Looks like a lot of fun. But please let the Tie Fighters fly in the correct direction next time. The V was at the back most of the time. I think the Tie Fighters would have the weakest points at the sides, because of the panels.

Seems pretty cool to me. I never played the Starship game. By it's time I was pretty busy with Magic: the Gathering and Warhammer 40,000. Some rules I'd throw in for more tactical play: Tailing: +2 to attacker's roll when targeting the rear of an opponent and is within 12" of the opponent targeted. "I can't see him!" -Biggs Darklighter Flanking: +1 to attacker's roll with targeting the side of an opponent that's within 12" of another friendly unit. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3LCdZKVfbKofNk

If I remember correctly, the droid command ships give a bonus to droid fighters. Will you be considering commander bonuses for the other factions?

I mean, this is a simplified X-Wing. Nothing wrong if you want to get the game going faster. X-Wing can get really clunky.
