5yrs later and you're still saving lives brother!! I haven't tried this yet but I attempted to install this myself and I evidently didn't do it right, because the issue persists. Hoping to use this to get it right finally and relieve some stress. Much appreciated, especially the meticulous instructions.

EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! Camera position is excellent and steady, very clear instructions, details on bolt sizes and even the torque spec. I've never worked with an O-ring thermostat gasket and the old one was a pancake, so I needed clarity as to what I was looking at. This video made it ultra clear. THANK YOU!

yes, one of the best how to videos I have found. the only thing I might suggest is stepping back and showing the location of the thermostat housing so we can see where it is on the motor. but it was awesome to see a video that was straight to the point and the size tools needed. no rambling or unnecessary music.

Doyle Holloway Don’t do all the bullshit this idiot does because it’s completely unnecessary you don’t have to unhook any houses you don’t have to drain any fluid all you have to do is block those 8 mm bolt out pullback revealing your thermostat and yes you may lose a little bit of fluid put the new thermostat in and put the shit back together it’ll take you 10 minutes and you can clean it up with a hose this guy is a pussy

I couldn’t get to the drain valve because the undercarriage cover bolts kept on snapping on me. They are all rusted out. So I decided to go on other side and take battery and battery case off and remove the bottom radiator hose and have it drain from there. I wasn’t trying to go to mechanic and have them tap all the broken bolts and charge me arm and a leg. But besides that good video thanks bud👍🏽

The process is pretty much the same on all vehicles. It's a very simple repair. Just trace the large hoses coming from the radiator until you find a flange similar to the one shown in the video. That's where your thermostat will be.

Clearly the 3.0, the 2.4 isn't nearly as easy. Do you have any videos involving the the 4 cylinder models. That would ve a great one. I'm having to remove the bolts from the AC compressor and move it out of the way just to get to the thermostat.

Is it necessary to drain the whole entire radiator? I'd imagine it just needs to be drained below the level of the thermostat and not drained fully.

I'm looking for some help. I just replaced my thermostat, water pump, and radiator. Everything was going good up until I was going through the first step of putting new coolant into the system. I had Motor OIL coming out of the housing. After disassembling I realized I forgot the dang gasket! My question is, why is there oil in the housing to begin with? Is it supposed to be there to cool? After I installed the gasket there wasn't any leak. I have to do another flush and new coolant again. But, is there a bigger problem now?

Question why did you replace it ? Car overheating ? Leaking coolant ? I have one with coolant leak I replaced the water pump and still leaving in the area above the transmission. Could it be the thermostat.

What is that hose with the two hose pinchers right of the thermostat housing? Was changing the thermostat in mine today when I noticed that hose wasn't connected due to a broken plastic bit connecting them.

You open the drain valve in the beginning of the video, but don't show or say anything about closing it back up. Probably common sense to most, but I feel the need to ask anyway. I would assume you tighten it back?

Excellent video, as usual. I could not remove the housing because the bottom bolt would just turn but not come off. My guess is that the nut, which is part of the plastic housing, just came loose/cracked and is spinning. Any ideas on how to get that out?I suppose I could take the entire thermostat assembly off, but there are a lot of pipes in there!! thanks.
@fearlessmaria
@fearlessmaria 6 жыл бұрын
Probably common sense, but isn't it also necessary to re-tighten the drain valve before refilling the coolant? (Maybe that's in the other video on refilling the coolant system, but I'm not watching that!)

Even when it's no talking & written in plain English, you get people asking in Spanish, wtf. While your learning from the video, learn English. It going to be easier to understanding things better & far easier learning English. Than trying to learn Spanish. And the fact speaking Spanish sounds like a discussion between a bunch of cockroaches speaking at once!

On the 2008 4 cylinders Hybrid, the Tensioner is on the top. Where they show the idler on this car. Belt replacement is easy, and the thermostat is right under it. Just pop it off, 3- 8mm screws, and you have plenty of hand space. Just sayin. Nobody has a video for that one.
