Thanks for this. Though me and my greaser friends were in a greaser gang that wandered the town and school to cause trouble. We enforced the steriotype, we were elitist greasers. We all smoked and drank, we vandalized, stole, got into rumbles, and did the singing, dancing, snapping, ect. We mostly listened to 50's music and a tiny bit of clasic metal. And it was one of the best times of my life, we were the Tom Cats.

And I've got more money in my pocket too from quitting.

Its interesting you Kats get rag-ed on. When I first started dressing vintage/rockabilly I had to deal with being starred at hard core. At first it use to bug me big time and I do not like being the center of attention. Now I do not give a rip. What dressing vintage/rockabilly did for me was it gave me confidence and broke me out of my shyness. The only thing I deal with these days is the women I work with who are major-ly jealous of me. Since I smile a lot, am kind hearted, have a good sense of who I am, and get nice comments from the customers I assist every work day. And I've been harassed by these women. Since they want the attention too. I'm a 100 watt bulb out shining their 40 watt bulbs, just by being me. Two things that help me fight the in real life haters at work. And its only at work (female co-workers) were I have haters. Number one my faith in Jesus, yep I'm a total Jesus freak to the core. And two dressing vintage/rockabilly, going to car shows, listening to the music, old movies, and not giving a care about what the haters think. It makes me laugh, since I know why they do it. And standing up for my self in a no violent or talking back way. Doing this totally crushes the haters. And I am ever so slowly showing them I'm not going to play into their hand no matter how hard these women push or lie about me at work. And these women are bit by bit, ever so slowly leaving me alone. And their evil ways are totally being exposed. Once my one of 5 work transfers go through I'll never have to deal with these haters ever again. Me being a chick I only ever get nice comments from people outside of work. Especially living on the very urban side of Chicago and using public transit. I've been told by customers/people I cross paths with, I look like Pasty Cline, a doll, a pin up, great, I like your hair/clothes/style, and you look like a real woman. You remind me of Happy Days, that totally made my day. On guy told me I should copyright my style so no one can copy me, LOL.

Hey Madman. I am a greaser, but in less then 3 months, I will be joining the Army. Being a greaser is my life, and I am afraid I'll be disrespected for not looking like a greaser anymore, if I have short hair. I have to cut my hair, in order to be in the Army. I'm trying to find short greaser haircuts to comprise the greaser look. It's honestly racking my brain. If you could help find any haircut looks or any advice, that be great!. But if there are no compromises, that's okay. I know what I'm getting into, and I will gladly sacrifice my hair, to serve my country. Also I feel like this would make a good topic for a video!

I never went around acting like a tough guy, back when I first started my greaser thing. I never liked people who did that, and I knew a people in school who acted like that. And they usually got their ass kicked, and usually by someone they underestimated. I learned early in life, that you don't mess with the quiet ones. Especially one that has a slight speech problem, like myself. I always thought that someone who is tough, doesn't need to act like it. So yeah, I didn't act like a tough guy, and I still don't. I'm actually a pretty cool guy, I'm usually joking around, and looking for a good time. But I ain't no push over either, one thing that having a speech problem has helped me with. Is it helped me grow a thick skin, and getting picked on by bullies when I was a little kid. Taught me to stand up for myself. I will say one thing about the greaser look, it does make people less likely to want to start shit with you. Once I started it in high school, suddenly bullies were no longer a problem. In fact, people that did have problems with bullies. Started coming to me to help them out. I don't like bullies, of any kind. I also learned early on, that chick dig the greaser look. Some of the girls in school started taking a different approach to me, once I start doing the greaser thing. I don't know what is about the leather jacket, greased hair style, and t-shirt that drives some chicks insane. Maybe it's that whole alpha male vibe that they like, I don't know.

When I was a greaser throughout the 90s, (I'm pretty sure I was the only damn one in Wales - I sure as shit never saw another one - in my area at least - in all that time), I used to get shit off cheeky bastard kids quite often. I'd be walking through town and you'd hear muffled laughing and whispers of, "Oh my god, who the fuck does he think he is?" or they'd come out with the chorus to 'All Shook Up' or some other generic, misplaced Elvis song. I was a quiet sort of guy who never wanted any trouble and, admittedly, actually found it pretty difficult sometimes, often feeling quite self-conscious. I'll be honest though, if any of them had said that, "Hey, 1955 called.. They want your hairstyle back!" line, I'd've been quite impressed and would've appreciated it's humour! Unfortunately, I think the majority believed the greaser look originated with 'Grease' in 1978.
