As his friend did you ever hold him accountable for his abuse of women and sexual abuse of a child? It could have saved his life and allowed him to turn it around. I’m sorry your friend died but he unapologetically caused chaos and horror for a lot of people. I know plenty of addicts and they don’t terrorize people the way he did. No one ever cares about the damage to the victims 🤦🏽‍♀️ as a victim myself, I understand the years and effort it takes to heal. He had no accountability whatsoever. If the people around him loved him they would have held him accountable instead of allowing him to be a monster and enabling him.

Twenty years from now we’re going to have comments like this but instead it’ll be “inspired by the movie Joker” or “inspired by the show Breaking Bad” The propensity of mediocre upper-middleclass men to idolize obvious bad guys as renegade anti-heroes is seemingly eternal I guess. Strange reality.

Sizemore was a GREAT actor; he was especially skilled at playing working class, gruff, often dangerous underworld characters. He was similar to Michael Madsen in that respect, but I feel Sizemore brought more nuance and authenticity to those roles, whereas Madsen made his characters more of a caricature. Sizemore could hold a scene with ANYONE, and when you saw him in a role, you at least knew he'd be interesting and memorable. He was truly one of the great talents of the last few generations; I'll always remember his performances, and I hope he's finally at peace. R.I.P. Tom...E

Tom Sizemore put out a biography a few years ago where he laid out his life's story and pretty much summed up his problems with addictions as the source of a lot of grief. It was a very honest and straightforward book about someone who scaled the highest mountains in entertainment only to undermine himself with substance abuse. Sad story. RIP.

Hmm. You laid out the topic of this video and pretty much summed up Dr. Grande's analysis. It was a very honest and straight forward examination of Sizemore's life including the autobiography, career, and addictions. You forgot, however, to include Sizemore's history of violence towards women and his questionable interaction with a young girl. That aside, your comment mirrors the entirety of this video.

Congrats on your sobriety! I’m also an addict with many years in recovery and listening to this video made me think how detrimental fame is to an addict. Just cause hes a man engaged with with a woman in violence doesnt mean its the classic domestic violence where some husband is beating his wife for not slicing the bread correctly. Hello Dr Grande... nice to see you. For a person who struggled with drugs all his life.. it's amazing he was able to perform so well. It did however change/or bring out the worst in him. An addict can be just as harming to others as one with mental illness can be. For him to be disgusted by someone suffering mental illness I find ironic. It's pretty hard to be respected when you are physically abusing your partner. I don't know much about this man as I am not a big viewer of movies. Thank you for your analysis Dr Grande. ❤️🌹🇺🇸

The movie could be falling apart, mired in total drudgery, and Tom would still find a way to bring a compelling character to the screen. I was always saddened to hear of his many, many issues. Simple reminder that we're all only human but in that humanity lies both the best of grace and the worst of destructive impulses. I'm actually glad Tom is finally at rest. I wasn't really surprised that he had died, but was surprised it wasn't from an overdose. But, I was very saddened by the news. I was really hoping he'd turn his life around because you could sense he had so much self loathing, vulnerability, anger, and pain. That may have been that certain ingredient he had that made his characters so believable. There aren't very many actors, still actively working, who I actually consistently liked. But he was one of them along with Gene Hackman, Helen Miren, Robert De Niro, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate Blanchet, Jeremy Irons, Clint Eastwood, Mikael Persbrandt, Judy Dench, and a handful more.

I think one must have a special kind of nuanced insight and superb communication skills to weave humor into this story while simultaneously evoking pity, sympathy, and sorrow. It's important that we remember that even as much as the initial substance use is a *choice* they make, and a *choice* they continue to make, it's not as simple as "choosing not to."

@@ComeOnBudder I didn't say I liked HIM, I don't know the real him. I liked his acting and his acting always seemed honest and genuine and yes I am aware of the sheer irony of that statement as someone who is on screen pretending to be something or someone is by virtue, not being honest and genuine technically. What I suppose I mean when I say that is he never appeared to be "acting". His performances were very honest to emotions.

Dr. Grande, this is probably your most thorough and best analysis of a very complicated actor. I wondered what happened to him and didn’t even know that he died just last year. What wasted talent! I remember watching the entire cast of Saving Private Ryan on the View and it was so obvious that he was high and that Tom Hanks seemed very upset and embarrassed by him. Again, what a waste!!

He was amazing in Twin Peaks. I wish he would've been more concerned about his drug use and physical abuse of people close to him when drugged to the teeth instead of "getting respect from the public." If he had done the first, it would've accomplished the latter. Two birds, one stone. But he should have also given himself more credit as an actor. He was a VERY good actor, and got to work with his idol, Robert De Niro. How many people get to co-star with and befriend their idol? That is success in its own right. But, as a mentally ill person myself, I understand how insanely hard many, many, mANY of us are on ourselves. RIP Tom - I pray it was a painless death and you are at peace, sir. I salute you.

15 year old kids lack wisdom no matter their “maturity” through life experience. It’s tragic that bad decisions can hunt people mercilessly. My own father had very similar experiences despite being a phenomenal guitarist. As a therapist, all I can say is please do the work to heal trauma. Freedom from addiction is possible.

While never having been a drug addict and having only taken drugs prescribed to me by a doctor and then sometimes reluctantly, I found your comments on the effects of drug addiction to be very informative and educational. They were clearly spelled out and they were results which I never knew and I'm sure many people don't know. While all your videos are informative and interesting, this one was one of your better ones. Maybe it had to do with the subject matter.
