Italy! How wonderful! Just like The Enchanted April which I just reread. I hope you had an amazing time. Thank you for watching!

Goodbye, Mr. Chips was a wonderful book. Two film versions of this story are worth the watch: 1939 starring Robert Donat and Greer Garson and 2002 starring Martin Clunes and Victoria Hamilton.

I didn't realize there were two movies of the book! Thank you for letting me know and I will check them out after I read it.

You have some fantastic finds here, Jen. I would so like to read the Edith Wharton- I'll be looking into it. Everything looked in very good condition. Do enjoy working out your order of reading for the summer. I like your Penguin Classics Jane Eyre mug . Definitely tea time 😘🫖☕

Great pile of books! The picture you shared of Mr Chips looked alot like the old movie character, it was a very good oldie with Greer Garson - if you ever get the chance to see it, try it! I have the book but haven't read it yet - recommendation from Miranda Mills. Will be on the look out for Elizabeth Cadell books! looking forward to Part II. Your local used bookshop sounds like it has some hidden treasures! You have shelf control ( 😀), I've probably be dropping in once a week! Jacqueline

Thanks for reminding me about the Mr. Chips movie! I will definitely watch it after I read the book. The used bookstore is wonderful but it's probably good that it's just slightly outside of the places I normally go to in my city otherwise I would stop in there every week!

Hello Jenn! I was really happy to see your post, made my tea and here I am! Thank you for explaining about Pango Bks. I see we have another thing g in common...Victoria Magazine. I love it, think I have subscribed since 1987?? I know it stopped publishing for awhile until they found Phyllis. Good reason too! I was shocked to see she had died. Can't remember if I told you about all the used bks. I found this past Thursday (some Mary Stewart, plus). I REALLY, REALLY have to try to let up or stop my book buying for some months. I have tons, but you KNOW how it is. Well, I have car insurance, dental insurance to pay in May, then another big one in June, plus birthdays. I also buy bks. for my 18 yr.old granddaughter. We like some of the same authors (Poe for one) then we can discuss them😊. I ask her what were her favorite middle grades so I can read them if I didn't. YOU really got me into those in March and I'm loving it! This was great! Thank you 🤗

I love that you and your granddaughter discuss books - that is so lovely! And I know how hard it is to curb the book buying habit...clearly I have no self control! Lol.

The Cat Who series... I think I read them all (29) generally in order, but I'm sure the first three were much later. Yum Yum appeared in book #2 The first was written in 1966, with two more following in 1967 and 1968. The fourth appeared eighteen years later, after which at least one new novel was published every year until 2007.
@jensreadinglife6 ай бұрын
I did not know there was such a gap between the first three books and the rest! I think I'm going to go back to the beginning and reread the first few to refresh my memory and then just keep going in order.

Mrs. Pollifax on Safari is my favorite of the series - hope you love it too! I love Daddy Long Legs, and its sequel, Dear Enemy. I paused and bought the Edith Wharton book. I really enjoy travel memoirs. I agree with Shirley that the books that explain his move to "North of everywhere" are good in order but after that I don't think it matters. I seem to recall liking The Cat Who Said Cheese. Looking forward to part 2.

So many good books! I read both of those Mrs. Pollifax books in the past couple of weeks and they are just as lovely and fun as the first few! I also have a really cute copy of What Katy Did but have never read it. I keep meaning to read it. Maybe I'll add it to my spring or summer TBR for this year. I LOVE Daddy-Long Legs!! I actually own the copy you linked in the description. 🥰 If you haven't heard of Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay, it is sort of a modern day re-telling that I've also loved and read several times. Something about the epistolary format is so engaging.
