I love my State. Thanks for showing us off. Michigan has a ton of campgrounds all over the State. Winter is hell on the roads in the UP.

I agree, especially once you get north of Claire - it just keeps getting better and better the further north you get. Then once crossing over the bridge.. tada! lol Roads can be tricky in the winter but road crews do amazing jobs keeping up with the heavy stuff. :-)

Check out Rocking Chair Lakes, north of Ishpeming. It's not a campground of any sorts but a totally wilderness area, a bit difficult to reach. I was there one time, about 35 years ago. There are actually 2 lakes, one bigger than a smaller one. Neither lake is, but a few acres in size. They are both up high on a plateau, which makes the bushwacking climb up fairly challenging. The bigger lake is surrounded in places by high cliffs, and the whole area is a wilderness. Brook trout is in the lakes, and if you are lucky, you might land a big one. Be very careful climbing up the rugged terrain, and I recommend not to go there alone. Bring food and water.

Sounds really cool - I just gotta find someone to animal sit and go out there without the luxury of a van and enjoy. Thanks for the tip!
