Note that while this stall uses pork lard to fry their char kway teow, it isn't 100% pork lard. They also mix in a little vegetable oil to make the oil "less heavy". A note for those who are concerned about eliminating unhealthy vegetable oils from their diets

Greg is the only food reviewer who reviews pork lard. My favourite reviewer.

seriously, you're one of the best food reviewers in sg that covers the best sg local hawker stalls with immense and detailed background of where it all started, hands down the best. thank you for sharing the local food and the history behind it.

I just booked my first flight to Europe from Australia in 3 years - and I made sure I’m having a Singapore stopover. I’m bringing my niece with me which means I can order more food! I’m going to re-watch all your videos to prepare myself. Thanks for your work!!!

Honestly the best thing about flying between Europe and Australia is stopping in Singapore for the food. I always make sure I have a couple of days stopover in at least one direction, if not both. Makes the horrible long flight much more bearable as well!

The reason it is so nice is that it is the Malaysian version, not the sweet Singaporean version.

Went there to try it 4 days ago. Asked for extra cockles and fried pork lard. Both extra not available. Pork lard was miserably tiny and miserly (half tsp). Lot of chinese sausage slices though. It practically overwhelmed the dish. Tried another CKT stall there also with long queue. Shocked to learn it only have vegetable oil and no fried pork lard.

I would say there are many competition for this dish and it’s dying because a lot of younger folks didn’t take up this skill.
