Greg totally agree with you that food prepared with pork lard taste better than other oil. I am 83 and I find today's hor fun and char kway do not taste like the good old days the good old days because of no lard. Like your true analysis on food👍👍👍👍

Agree on the oil part... Everything felt more flavor packed.

Very friendly price for Hokkien mee which many stalls are charging $5 for very small portion. Carrot cakes price is a bit puzzling though.

I used to stay at Kim Tian about 10 years ago. Back then he only sells Char Kway Teow and Hokkien Mee, so the carrot cake must've been a new addition. For me, I prefer his Hokkien Mee. Most people at the coffeeshop ordered his CKT but I've never liked it. His CKT a bit bland imo. His Hokkien Mee though is good.

Surprised that u came to this very low traffic coffeeshop. I live about 2 blocks away and bought from that CKT stall many times. You are spot on about his inconsistency. Thats why i actually stopped buying from there for a long time. Maybe i will try again later. Appreciate your honest reviews.

+1 for old school pork lard. In terms of flavour, no other alternative comes close. I would gladly pay more to keep the oil at 100% lard. @GregoryLeow according to Google reviews, you have to tell the uncle to 炒黑一点,加猪油渣。

Thank you for the recommendation Greg. I tried it recently, It was very good with the distinct flavor of lard.

Looks Good. More big portion of Fatty Bean Sprout will be ideal. But if there is no lark oil, thick fried garlic oil also taste delicious in char kway teow. I am one who doesn't like cockles or blood clams taste too fishy blood taste and no eggs, makes noodles too dry.
@wendyshoowaiching4161 Жыл бұрын
I like the egg cook separately. Not sticky and dry on the noodles. Add fat choy sum flower is delicious. I hate cockles blood taste. I like pork intestine and prawns. Fish sauce in the noodles? I am not sure. But a good sambal chilli sauce will be ideal. Noodles should be dark enough with dark soy sauce, not too light

what's your secret to losing weight?
@GregoryLeow Жыл бұрын
I only eat carbs about one or two meals a week, no desserts, and I dropped cardio and did resistance training. I also use only ghee, lard and beef tallow as cooking oils and I cut out all vegetable oils. I also threw away all my ultra processed foods (I.e. if it can’t be refrigerated, I don’t eat it)
@guru6831 Жыл бұрын
To cut fat, eat only fruits and vegetables. Animal products like dairy, egg, and meat fatten people. Though refined foods are poison, animal products are the killer.
