I lived in London from 1966 to 1969. Unfortunately, I was, as my chemistry teacher said at that time a scruffy little school boy. I went to the London Oratory Grammar School and felt the headmaster's cane a couple of times since I was cheaky with my class teacher. I loved the London of that time. Every Sunday in the summer I would take my model sailing boat on a walk from where we lived near South Kensington along Exhibition Road past the museums, Imperial College and the Albert Hall to the Round Pond where I let my boat sail across the pond. My brother and I loved going into the museums and pressing buttons that let something happen in the vitrine. I remember the multiple antique shops in the area. Those are a few of the many dear memories I have of this period of my life. I was eleven years old as we arrived in London. This fact is the only one I regret I have, since at that time the dry cleaners in King's Road charged for cleaning miniskirts by the inch. The girls wore long boots to the skirts. I became adolescent at the time and I would have loved to have contacted them. It was frustrating, I was too young. I couldn't even go in a pub. As a grown man I am very disappointed with what has happened with the London I knew. It doesn't exist anymore. Commercialism and not values drive the politics and society. This is why I enjoy your program so much because not the monetary value is the important thing but the ideal value to the owners is in the centre. Even in the case where the value of an antique is surprising the owner it is not the value that makes the game it's the human response that wins the show!

That piece about the trains with the lad was kind of emotional. Loved the fellow with the tops.

Wondering about the auction Antiques Roadshow held for the lady with the painting (for 2,000 pounds). Is that something you do often?
