Great fly. I love the simplicity! And I love the opening to tour vids! The coffee grinder and the handful of flies you put down gets me fired up for some reason👍

Looks nice and natural. Will tie a few up to go with your other 2 patterns today. Tight lines from down-under in NZ.

Really like your flying tying style, that you "fish a lot", and use barbless hooks. Subscribed...

That is a great tie & tutorial Jake! May I suggest you counter-wrap the rib wire against the body quill for more durability? Thanks for sharing & tight lines from Eastern Canada.

Good looking fly. Try using Solarez instead of Loon, it's a much better product and is never tacky.

Nice looking fly. I haven't tied with the body quill material. I have one color but I always used it for ribbing. I will have to try it now to see if it looks as good in person. I am not sure what color I have but it shouldn't be very expensive to get some more of it. All the best and thanks for sharing. Sean

Nice tie! I'm not sure you mentioned why you used the white thread. White thread base for the body quills offers much better translucency after the UV resin coat. Just my 2 cents!

Very cool PT variation. Gotta get me some of this body quill. Would this fly do well with a hot spot color when you whip finish?

J T Yes Im Sure It Would! Ive Been Trying To Keep It Has Natural As Possibly Because The Stream Ive Been Fishing Gets Alot Of Preessure And Fish Spook Easy But Try A Couple On Your Home Waters And Im Sure They Will Produce!

Absolutely gonna try. Will do both with a hot spot and natural. Fish can Be spooky here right now as well. Streams have been hammered over last 4-6 weeks.

Hi Jake, great fly! Really appreciate your explanation on bead sizing. I've been using the Veevus Body Quill and glad you showed how to strengthen it. Our BWO natural nymphs run in the size 18 range. When you tie these flies, particularly for Euro nymphing, do you try to really scale back on the silhouette or do you find that the trout still go after the larger body, more attractor shapes? Thanks much, Bob

rj Hey Bob, depends on water, ill carry both in my box forsure, most times i let the fish tell me.

Is the soft wire available in the U.S.? Have only been able to find it Europe and Canada.
@CopperJohn9077 жыл бұрын
Jim Carver are you referring to the lead free wire? Either way, I can find all these materials in any of the fly shops in my town (MT, USA)
@jimcarver41087 жыл бұрын
No, I actually meant the ribbing wire. Lead free wire is available many places. I asked this question in the wrong video. The Fly Fiend video of the Rainbow Warrior Euro nymph uses silver UNI soft wire made in Canada for the ribbing material. Is that available in your town? Thanks.

Nice fly. But you didn't "palmer" the body, you wound the material up the body. Palmering is winding a hackle down the length of the fly body. Different material, different technique, different name!
