Wonderful technique. Another day at the bench should result in an acceptable copy. Thanks from down-under.

Hi Jake, thanks for the video. You have stated often that you like to use soft hackles while your friends are focused on dries and I was wondering if there is any particular hatch that you would used this particular pattern? Thanks, Bob

Really nice pattern. I especially like the uv on the crystal flash technique. All that black on the black background did make it a bit difficult to see everything clearly.

Jake that's an awesome pattern! Great color combo too. You have a very clean and precise style. I like the look of that hook too, but the space from hook point to shank worries me because it's narrower than the gape at the bend. I've not used them yet, do they hook well? Still a great looking soft hackle. It reminds me the dabblers Steven Bird ties on TMC 200Rs for what he calls trout spey. He writes the Wet Fly Journal column for Flyfishing & Tying Journal magazine. He also has a blog called the Soft Hackle Journal. If you search either the wet fly journal or soft hackle journal there's a PDF on the flies and fishing the PNW areas. I think you'd enjoy it. Sorry for the lengthy comment, your pattern really caught my eye! Lastly, it would have been helpful to me if you showed the Starling feather location on the skin and how you prepped it.That's another material I've yet to use. Thanks and tight lines.

Thanks Joe! The hook actually hooks up very nice and holds fish perfect! I use the feathers from around the neck area for the Starling, just try to keep the Starling a little bit smaller than your Hen collar so it kind of tappers into each other. I will defiantly look into Steven Bird, thanks for the recommendation!

@@TheFlyFiend You're more than welcome. Thanks for the intel on the hook and feathers. Let me know what you think about S. Bird.
