Hi Gijs, it is one of the best birds. What I did not capture is the amazing sound its wings make when it flies.

I won't forget the Great Hornbills I saw with Ralph and Nit. We showed them through the scope to several non-birders who got so excited to see them too. It was a wonderful birding moment. Thanks for the great video!

That is awesome, I really enjoy it when I can amaze non birders with a bird like this. I had a similar thing once at Kaeng Krachan showing some Thai tourists a Red-bearded Bee-eater. You should have seen theirreaction when they looked through the telescope. And really glad the Great Hornbill made a real impression on you.

What a sensational bird ! Thanks for the footage to show so much detail ...I can see the logic in the quotation but would go on to say "If you are tired of birds you re tired of life ".. The thought of a world minus any birds too awful to consider .Nice to see this watched twice 👍

You are right of course but what made me use the quote for this one was that a few years ago I was leading a birding tour and pointed out a Great Hornbill. The client told me he wasn't interested as he had seen one in India in 1975 !!!!!!

@@BirdingwithNick Love to have seen the clients face ..Actually that's what I was getting at . .Some see a bird .tick a box it's then no longer relevant . Even worse are those who label a bird , pest , cute , and other meaningless utterance .1st bird ever seen a sparrow .Still find them fascinating .Been around the world working and seen many species ( not as many as you ) and all I can say is all are amazing .( rather like your channel and 👏🏻quick response to a numbers dimwit )👍 The birds hero , Nick Upton

I hate it when they are labelled pests. People in UK are always moaning about gulls at the sea stealing their chips or ice cream and want them culled! So incredibly stupid.
