It appears that you have occasional frame spikes. It's probably because the cpu reaches tj max at 96c. You can disable turbo boost and get same\better performance in almost all games, or limit cpu tdp for negligible performance loss.

On mine i disabled the turbo mode, i can play pretty much any game (currently running Baldurs Gate 3 without issues) i get like 80-85ish temps on it which is fine. had it since last year december and i am more than happy with it.

It's best to wait for when last year's model go on sale. I got the late July 21 model for $1,400 in 22 from bestbuy and the 2022 model just a few days ago "open box" for $1,100. Only thing I'm complaining about is how stupid Best Buy on 44th and 5th Ave didn't include a charger with my laptop and by the time I got in the cab because I was rushing, I noticed and had to have the driver go to another best buy to get a 100 watt usb c charger which is good but not strong enough to play games at full potential so I am going to call Asus tomorrow to see if they can send me a free ac adapter because I'm not paying for another adapter. I don't feel lik going back to the Best Buy I got the usb c charger from although that'' be $65 I get back within 5 to 7 days to my card. I think Best Buy needs to watch what they sell when it's an open box deal and give full details because the item clearly stated that it came with everything, including the 240 Watt C adapter I needed.

This specific machine has the 6800s correct? That was on the spec sheet in the beginning but you mentioned something about the 6700s at the end. Either way, I'm highly interested in getting one of these - there are some great sales going on right now.

Mine is 6800s yes but the g14 also offers 6700s (possibly legion as well in some regions). Get the 6800s. It’s more powerful than a 3060 and has 8gb vram.

Hi, thanks for this review. I'm interested in either the G14 2022 qhd+ 120hz 16:10 with ryzen 9 6900 and rx 6700s or the more expensive g15 2022 qhd+ 240hz 16:9 ryzen 9 6900 rtx 3080. Which one would you recommend for gaming, movies, productivity and photo editing? Thanks!

The 3080 is more powerful to be sure. But the laptop is also larger. I’d you don’t mind the slight increase in size, the g15 will be the winner

Im a little confused on which is which now. Probably a stupid question but is the 6700s and 6800 1080p or 1440p ?

There are multiple screen options for these laptops, so you need to select carefully Also there isn’t a “1440” model, rather “1600” And there is not 1080, rather 1200 These are the superior 16:10 screens, not 16:9. So when you select a model, keep on eye on the screen and select the model with the on you want

Been researching a couple different laptops and between all the different variations sometimes its hard to keep track of what's what and when I watched this video and when the screens were compared when gaming 1080 and 1440 were mentioned and it really through me off on what was what. Is the 2560 x 1600 the better of the two?

Yeah they use the term 1440p (I do sometimes too) just to compare to desktop screens. I’m a sucker for 1440 or 1600p screens since I do productivity work. You can always lower the screen resolution during gaming if you want, but you can never increase it natively

Very different devices. Advantages for legion: - way more powerful - bigger screen - better cooling - better keyboard Advantages of g14: - more portable Legions are the best high powered laptops, but they are also a full on gaming laptop for size. If portability is critical the g14 is a nice one A 3rd contender is the legion 7 slim. You can see my review of that. It’s a very nice device

The cpu definitely uses Liquid Metal. I’m not sure about the gpu. I would be hesitant to remove the cooling solution unless you are able to re-apply Liquid Metal

It has no dGPU. This is the 120hz OLED 6800h model. I didn’t know there was a 3050 + 6800h + 120hz OLED paring. If so it would be a killer model

The 6700s pretty much on par with a rtx 3060 mobile. The 6800s is closer to a 3070 (not white but close)

Its about 3db louder than the Blade. But with G-Helper you can perfectly adjust the fans. I get 60fps (locked) Sons of the Forest in Ultra with Fans only set to 50% (CPU 85C, GPU 80C). Thats just 41db which is insanely quiet
