If you're driving I found that parking at South Shields on the day and busing it over to the start is easier. I normally arrive at South Shields around 8am, always plenty parking spaces, then jumping on a bus to the start line, the fare is normally around £3.50. My family then go for breakfast and look around the charity village before making their way to somewhere along the last mile to see me back. Done this for the last 10 years without any hassle at all. Brilliant video! I live in North Northumberland so this is reasonably local to me :)

I used the buses to get back to haymarket in 2017. It was cheaper and quicker. Enjoy the day fantastic event.😀
