This now has a 90€ discount in amazon. Do you think it is a solid choice to do some ultrawide gaming on a budget? Or do the response times, say between 5ms and a 1ms monitor matter that much? I play a lot of singleplayer campaign and racing/flight sim games and the casual cod4online, overwatch and csgo. Thanks
@GoodsauceTech7 жыл бұрын
+Ricardo Sousa i use it for ultrawide gaming and I'm extremely happy with it. As for the response times, I'm 99.9% certain nobody can notice the difference between 1ms and 5ms. So yeah, don't even worry about those (in my opinion, of course)

Goodsauce Tech Thanks, youre rly helping l. Just have to more things to ask that i cant seem to figure out trough amazon: Can the monitor be mounted to a regular 27" desksupport (cause i dont want the stand on the desk) and is the 29um68 worth the extra price. thanks
@GoodsauceTech7 жыл бұрын
The monitor has holes for 75x75mm VESA mounting on the back, so if your support supports that, you should be good. When it comes to the 29um68 here is what it has extra over the 58: - It has FreeSync - It has an additional input (DisplayPort 1.2) Except that, they are basically the same, except minor differences in the way they look. Is it worth it? Well, if you know you'll be using AMD GPUs and want the FreeSync, yeah it might be worth it. If you're just rolling with nVidia it's definitely not worth it. And the extra input is just and added perk, not that much of a game changer to be honest.

LG 29 inch 29UM58 or samsung 27 inch cf591?
@GoodsauceTech7 жыл бұрын
Well here's the thing: 1. The samsung is just a really big (and i have to admit, really good looking) 1080p screen. The lg is 2560x1080, so you can actually fit more windows on your screen at the same time. 2.The samsung is 1.8 inches taller, but the LG is 2.2 inches wider. 3. The LG has a higher pixel density at 95 PPI tham the samsung, which has 81 PPI. This means the LG is likely to have a sharper image. 4. The samsung has freesync. If you want freesync on an LG Ultrawide you would have to get the 29um68 not the 29um58 Conclusion: If you want freesync / want to stick to 16:9 / aren't sure that your computer is powerful enough to run the increased resolution of the LG, then go with the samsung. If you want higher pixel density (sharper image) / more screen real-estate go with the LG. I, personally would go for the LG, but that's just an opinion.
@ramirohigonet29997 жыл бұрын
thanks, yes I agree with you, and I'm going to buy the lg

Thanks for the video. Would you recommend this monitor to be used with a PS4?
@GoodsauceTech6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend hooking a PS4 up to an ultrawide monitor. PlayStation games are usually designed with the 16:9 aspect ratio in mind and they usually either run with letterboxing (black bars) on the sides or they end up stretching and distorting the image to fill the whole screen.

When I overclock my monitor, I end up with a lot of flickering lines all over. What is the problem? It is at 75Hz, like yours.
@GoodsauceTech6 жыл бұрын
Overclocking is the same for monitors as it is for things like processors and graphics cards. That means that not every single one be overclocked as far. The thing you are experiencing is called artefacting, which means that your particular screen can't do 75Hz. You can try lowering the refresh rate a little bit until you see that the lines and the flickering go away.

Would you recommend this as a 'side' monitor, because I want to have a 3 monitor setup with 2 of these on the left and the right. I have a 144Hz monitor in the middle.
@GoodsauceTech7 жыл бұрын
+RestZ having 2 of these plus your middle monitor will give you a lot of screen real estate, but it will get *really* wide. From what i have seen, people mostly use ultrawides as the middle monitor, but i haven't used a multi-monitor setup with an ultrawide myself. I'd say your best bet is asking on a forum like linustechtips or tomshardware, because there will probably be people there who have tried that.

Hi, does this monitor have HDMI 1.4 or 2.0? I guess that having a resolution of 2560 x 1080 is 2.0 true? (Sorry for my bad english)
@GoodsauceTech7 жыл бұрын
Well, LG's website says "HDMI 2.0: Yes(ver1.4, 2ea)". Therefore i guess it one of the ports might be 1.4 and the other might be 2.0, but, again, i'm not quite sure about that. What is certain is that even HDMI 1.4 is more than sufficient to drive this resolution at this refresh rate, so don't worry about that. Moreover, HDMI standards are backwards compatible. :)

@GoodsauceTech7 жыл бұрын
+Ricardo Sousa Display overclocking doesn't rely on the gpu. The thing is that the 68 has Freesync (an amd technology), which basically makes games look smoother at lower framerates. Now, freesync only works with amd gpus, but if you pair it (the um68) with an nVidia gpu it should work like a um58. If they are both the same price go ahead and get 68 because it is basically the same thing with the added benefit of freesync.

Can you run a windows laptop APART from the monitor on this?? if so... how? -How do you plug in the windows laptop (Asus UX410UA-GV024T)? -How do you make it so that you can drag things from the one side to the other? It would really help if you were to answer... Btw, you just got yourself a new sub :-) because you are so active and help out other people
@GoodsauceTech7 жыл бұрын
So i guess you want to use this as a second monitor for your laptop, right? Since it's a zenbook I'll also assume you're on windows. So, this is how you would go about it: - Plug the monitor into the laptop's HDMI port - Press the Windows Key + P (opens the projector / other screens menu) and select "extend" - if the resolution goes crazy on your laptop screen or your LG Ultrawide, you might have to go into your display settings and set the proper resolution for each screen. Hope this helps! If it's not what you meant or you're having trouble, let me know :)

+vfddcv it might be a bit silly. If you're using a normal 1080p screen now and feeling the need to upgrade then you should probably get the better rig and then switch to the bigger screen. +Mafro234 Gaming yep! I have a gtx 750 Ti and it runs well. 2560x1080 only takes about 30% more performance than normal 1080p, which is not a lot.

models 29UM58 / 29UM58-P support freesync???
@GoodsauceTech6 жыл бұрын
On LG's website, there is no mention of FreeSync on the 29um58-P page. Also, LG doesn't have any sort of information on their site about the 29um58. CNET has full spec sheets for both versions, but they are basically identical and none of them seems to support freesync

Hi man great video, thanks! Can this monitor be supported by nVidia GT440?
@GoodsauceTech7 жыл бұрын
+DR. MORSE greek wellville Hi! The GT440 supports a maximum digital resolution of 2560x1600 (according to nVidia's website). So it would support this monitor (2560x1080) BUT you have to keep in mind that that is a relatively old GPU, so you wouldn't be able to do anything that is even remotely graphically intensive at this resolution with it. Gaming is pretty much out of the picture.
@DRMORSEgreekwellville7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the answer but I don't have gaming in mind, only for desktop work I would be using that monitor

The out-of-the-box refresh rate is 60Hz but LG advertises that you can overclock it to 75Hz, which I was able to do no problem.

27 curve samsung or this?
@GoodsauceTech7 жыл бұрын
someone else has asked this exact thing before, so here is a cop pasted answer from over there: "Well here's the thing: 1. I, personally would go for the LG, but that's just an opinion." hope that helps Show less

@GoodsauceTech6 жыл бұрын
+Hades The Mighty The only relatively big game that comes to mind right now is Paladins. You also can't expect ultra low budet indie games to always support 21:9. However, other than that, i haven't had black bars in the games i play regularly (World of Tanks, World of Warships, Warthunder, Smite, Warframe, Hearts of Iron 4, Unturned etc)

The ultrawidemasterrace subreddit has a steam curator. You can see most games that have native 21:9 support store.steampowered.com/curator/9685213-r-ultrawidemasterrace-Group/#browse
