It makes me wonder how on earth i actually enjoyed playing in 16:9 for all these years..... You may lose a bit of height, but i reckon it more than makes up for it with the wider FOV. Maybe a bit Late, but i will change from two 24" to a 29" Ultrawide in 1080p to maintain Performance, but i'll use one of my older 24" Displays as a second Monitor on Top of the Ultrawide. The Prices of 1080p 29" UW is fantastic right now, and i do not feel the need to tank my RX 6600 with full 1440p or even 1440p UW. That would be madness i guess :D

@@slumy8195 Yes, thats what i said, when i meant i will not use my RX 6600 for an 1440 UW, because it makes no sense. I would not even use an RX 6600 on 16:9 1440p. I play a lot of early access and mods, so 20fps (average!) can make a huge difference here. 1440p is better for Upscaling but what are we talking about here. GPU is too weak for this resolution. For me. And what i play. I still use it with an i7 8700. I am running 1080p UW and thats absolutely fine for me. Enshrouded need Upscaling and isn't running with 60 fps here. Helldivers 2 is working fine. Just to get a few newer titles i played well over 100h each. But i am fine. I play not a single competitive game, so i do not care about These. I guess i will upgrade i a few years. But every Time i think about Upgrading ,it would mostly just be numbers. I am not willing to get a new rig that puts out the same numers with a 1440p UW like i do now with 1080p UW. All that for 1200 Euros. No, thanks. I am getting 35. My eyes aren't getting better. @7ftunder7 жыл бұрын
There are lots of addons for different browsers that will help you fix that. E.g. I use an extension for chrome called UltraWide Video that fills any of my 21:9 screens on quite a few popular sites like KZbin, Netflix, and Amazon Video. The best part of it is that you can toggle the feature on or off as desired, and for me it works wonders specially when watching tv series that never support 21:9.
@GloryHoleBased7 жыл бұрын
doesnt it cut of part of the video?
@7ftunder7 жыл бұрын
Yes AND no. Let me explain: You can either play the video normally(16:9), like the OP mentioned this shows the black borders on each side of the screen. You can stretch the image to fill the whole screen(stretches to fill 21:9). This doesn't cut the image and shows no black borders. This is what I do 99% of the time. Optionally you can keep its ratio(16:9) but zoom in on the video to fill the screen(21:9). This cuts a little of the image like you mentioned, and although most people dot like this "mode", in my opinion I don't think you loose that much of the image; its not something that will cause you to miss something important when watching a video. I myself am very happy with stretching the video and have no problems with it. In the end I think you have to try and experiment with each viewing mode to really know which one floats your boat. I hope that helps you.

Would 25 inch be adequate?
@Grosserstream8 жыл бұрын
+Schmidt McGready I have the 25inch 21:9, its not worth it, on youtube there are black bars in the side which are quite large, you should just buy a 16:9 monitor.

Grosserstream i have a 16:9, i want a 21:9 as a secondary. i may go with a 29" 21:9
@Grosserstream8 жыл бұрын
+Schmidt McGready if it's a secondary then it's fine, that's the setup I have right now, a 25 inch 21:9 and a 24 inch 16:9.
