thanks for taking the time to review. i may be wrong but as a 21:9 movie would normaly only be displayed in the middle of a 1080p display there must be a similar upscale on the vertical pixle line to bring it up to the full 1080 height of the monitor. I may be overthinking it.

I,m getting the exact same thing as your set up apart from mines a LED keyboard, LED mouse, LED 29inch monitor flat wide screen, with LED tower and 2 AMD Radeon graphics cards fitted. perfectly fine for VR gamers :)

Im not sure if you're right about a movie resolution. 21:9 ap movies cant have 16:9 resolution. Most "1080p" movies have a resolution around 1920x800, so actually both horizontal and vertical resolution is going to be stretched when watched in fullscreen on an ultrawide monitor :)

Im not talking about the format, im talking about "interpolation" if you know what that means. 21:9 format cant ever be or look stretched on a 21:9 panel, right? But that guy said if you play a "1080p" movie on a 21:9 panel, you would fill out the vertical pixels right, but not the horizontal ones, whic doesnt make any sense... Think about it. 1080p/21:9 movie aspect ratio cant every be truly 16:9 1920x1080 right? So its either vertical resolution thats lower, as i said 1920 x800 or sth to match 21:9 ratio :)

Thats the exact reason why you get vertical black bars when watching a "full hd' movie on a 16:9 monitor, because the vertical pixels are the ones that are shroter, which is even visualy logical and obvious...

Very nicely done bro.. liked it.. supported! The only gripe I have about this LG 29 incher is the 81 ppi density as it's running 1080p on a 29". I do mostly text editing based work. Does the texts look sharp enough for reading long hours.. or are there noticeable text pixelation that cause eye strain? Which alternative would you recommend in budget?

hi, i want to buy the 29um58, and i see that the spec writes 75hz refresh rate, do I just have to go to nvidia control panel and tweak the settings to 75hz, or is there need to do other extras? I am planning on upgrading my 760 to 1070 and 75hz should be the sweet spot for 1080p gaming on that card.

I'm trying to figure out the color calibration settings for this monitor. For some reason it looks like all of the colors are very yellow regardless of the configuration. It is really weird.

Have you tried the split screen feature? I am curious if you could use that in portrait mode with this. Say watch TV on a upper screen and have extra screen space on the lower portion. Does it work that way?

That would be comparing an ultrawide to a standard definition display.

+MisterFuturtastic Yes you can do very similar things. You can also run two HDMI leads through the monitor and stream two separate displays entirely - all on the same panel. I forgot to cover this cool feature in the video. I wasn't very familiar with how it worked yet.

Also, I wanted to mention something here. You sound like a big fan of LG monitors and so was I until this weekend. I ordered a 27 in IPS monitor from Amazon and got it this last weekend. I was blown away by how POOR the picture was. This was especially disappointing because I have an older 27" LG display I am using now and it is STELLAR. It's non IPS and the color and crispness of the image is incredible. How can the picture quality be worse on a more modern supposedly better screen? Did I just get a bad one or what? The new one was very dim.. the older one is extremely bright. Here are the models. Older - E2742V Returned monitor - LG 27MP36HQ-B 27-inch Full HD IPS LED Monitor, 1920 x 1080 I can't even a find a 27 inches monitor for under 300 dollars that sounds comparable to a LG monitor I got 3 years ago for 200 dollars. I see all these complaints about how text is pixelated on all 1080P 27 inch monitors and people claiming this resolution on this size screen doesn't produce good images.. How can this be when the image on my old screen is spectacular? Something seems really odd here. Maybe it's just inflation?

No sir, for editing video's you don't need that pc. You need a pc with a strong enough graphics card to support the resolution (there are a lot of graphics cards) The monitor is 29 inches and has a 2560 * 1080 resolution, so the graphics card has to be strong enough to support that. Graphics cards like Geforce GTX 750 ti, or GTX 950 are strong enough for video editing.

No. Console games do not support the ultrawide format. Your picture will either be stretched, or the corners of the screen will be blacked out.

get this because with the RX 480 you wont be able to hit more than 100fps in most games without having to lower your graphics settings.But with the ultrawide you can easily get 60FPS or 75(if you overclock it) and see more on the sides of the screen.

So New Version is um 68 is 8 bit-- 6 bit+frc but older version UM 67 is true 8 bit .So should i care about that & how is the Back lit bit .Heard they suffer more than the Newer version

btw I decide to stay with mine ASUS, I made some custom settings inside NVIDIA panel, bought good defensive glasses for computer monitors (Tony Morgan). And even quake live goes up with mine ratting - idk why, but its feels good now... And I think 29 is small a bit in vertical and a bit large in horizontal resolution, maybe I will take a look at 34 models in future

This is a budget ultra wide monitor, I don't think it's great for gaming it's only good for general entertainment such as movies. It doesn't support G-Sync or Freesync and it's not running at 122Hz, your pc games will be limited to 60FPS, anything beyond that will cause screen tearing, when you enable v-sync it will limit the FPS back to 60 or below which is bad.
