That pedal is designed to help 90's kids/poors to get their lower output pickups, like all the danelectro guitars that came with lipstick singles as well as most if not all the other "starter" electrics pull off a higher gain sound at relatively low volumes with their 15-50w practice combo amp. And it was AWESOME for that, that's why I loved it.

I own one of these pedals. I stopped using it but loved the art Deco look so much I couldn't part with it. I will have to dig it out.

The whole series looks absolutely killer! Solid pedals, that's for sure. I'll do videos on the other ones too.

Now that would be a sound and a half!

I used it for a decent amount of time (around 15 years) but then it broke. Really loved this brutal vibe. I considered it more a distortion than a fuzz cause it was pretty precise, imo fuzzes tend to be a little muddy when you play chords.

It's a full on Metal Monster, that's for sure. I ended up liking it way better than I remember back in the day.

Another excellent Dan pedal 🤘🍺

Solid and mucho distortion!

It's GREAT on lipsticks in a recording situation where you want to layer some thiiiiiiick dist under a big muff tone.
@DunsysGuitarWorld22 ай бұрын
I think thiiiiiick is the word! It is not a subtle pedal. Watching this video back, a couple of days later, I’m actually enjoying some Metal tones too.

@DunsysGuitarWorld2 try it on a bridge position of a dan electro in drop D with fresh strings.Holy shit

There are no bad tones, just tones you haven't found a place for yet. That's what I keep telling myself anyway!

I like that! 100% correct, Sir!

Yep one of my first guitar pedals in the 90s going through a solid state 50w Laney and later marshall valvestate. Definitely a "release the bees" sounding distortion. I then "upgraded" to a dod grunge 😂 which I still stand by as sounding great through a decent solid state amp. Least it had more bass. Still have both pedals. 🥂

Sounds like my first set up! An MXR Distortion into a Traynor TS-50 solid state combo. Distortion on both set to full!

Didn't know you were firing from both hips with a second channel. Now I get treated to a double dose of Dunsy! The Fab tone sounded better to me with the humbuckers. It's definitely going to be somebody's secret sauce.
@DunsysGuitarWorld22 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if double channels is double the fun, tbh! Yeah, this is a very very distorted distortion. I won't lie though and say that as soon as I turned it on, it sounded WAY better than I remember it doing in 1996. It does Metal very well.

I used to have one years ago. I thought it had a nice fat tone while still maintaining clarity.

I was quite surprised by it - wasn't as bad as I remember, that's for sure. Some good tones.

I've had a Fab Tone since they were introduced, sadly it took a shit and died recently and I'm hoping it can be ressurrected soon. Reminds me of a Marshall Guv'Nor, but it really is it's own beast, I knicknamed mine "The Beast of Caerbannog" if ya know, ya know! Cheers!

There's no half measure with this bad boy, a Beast for sure!

I found the Cool Cat to be a great sounding chorus pedal, but far too noisy to be included in a pedal board. The Fab Tone was just a disappointment.
@DunsysGuitarWorld22 ай бұрын
It's a pedal that has no half way, that's for sure. Even at its lowest setting it's probably more distorted than any other pedal I've ever owned!
@bpabustan2 ай бұрын
Not bad at all. There's no fizz, then I can work with it.
@DunsysGuitarWorld22 ай бұрын
I can't lie, I ended up quite liking the sheer Metal-ness of it!

@@DunsysGuitarWorld2 it will work well with strats and teles, will definitely fatten their tone significantly.

i can remember when they came out , i was after an overdrive cheapy , and without ever hear one , i looked at them in the shop and thought , who the hell wants that look , the stray cats maybe?? , chinzy tatt , shakey ?, look awful and im not keen on the tone it claims to be fab at , incidentally the pedal i bought was shoite too , some cheapy name that promised the earth and delivered rubbish
@DunsysGuitarWorld22 ай бұрын
Man, imagine if a Rockabilly bought one of these and was expecting to get some classic Stray Cat Strut from it?!
