Flying the Great Planes Escapade 61 at South Derry Model Flying Club. June 2023. Pilot Aidan McAtamney. Cameraman Aidan Dallat. Powered by an OS 95V along with a 14x6 prop. The Escapade is a nice flying aircraft that i have had now for over 10 years. Its very strong and durable and the monocote covering has held up well over time.

Thanks Jeff. Yes scale flying is what I do most of the time. I try to make it as realistic as possible.

I love your flying style, much more "open" and scale-like than the usual darting around. This model reminds me very much of Terry Melleney's "Pelago" and "Blue Nose". I have Escapades in both sizes and have enjoyed them tremendously. Thanks for the vid

Thanks for posting this. You seem to favour IC over EP. What sort of flight times to you usually have? With EP we generally limit flights to 6 minutes to look after the batteries.

Yes, I've always preferred ic to electric , mainly because when I started flying in 1986 there were very few electric planes around. Having said that, I have three electric planes which I enjoy flying. The flight time I usually stay up for is 6 to 7 minutes. I'm happy with that. But depending on the size of the fuel tank I can fly sometimes for 10 minutes.

Did you replace the original exhaust? If so, what did you use? It sounds fantastic!

Yes indeed I did replace the original exhaust, that was a good number of years ago now and I'm still flying the Escapade with that very same engine. The exhaust was bought from Just Engines , a company based in England. It was one of their own manufacturerd exhausts specifically for OS 95v fourstroke engines.

I have that same engine and I'm hesitating whether to put it on. Does it have good power or does it fall short? I also have an ASP 120 but I think it is very heavy. What do you recommend?

If its for the Escapade 61 it has bags of power and suits my flying style . But I do know of another man who also has the Escapade 61 and he prefers to fly his with a 120 fourstroke. I'm happy enough with the OS95v . Hope this helps.

I've got one I'm getting ready to put together! Do you think my YS 120 would be too much for it? Looks like it's going to be a awesome flying plane if it does as good as yours! Good flying!
