You forgot JP-8 ( jet fuel ) . I have a few of these and other single burner Coleman stoves , I like this one , and the M-1950 along with the 520 & 530 single burners , the exponent is much lighter but the military stoves can take some crazy abuse , This stove along with the 222 / 226 / 229 lanterns are what I take along for short weekends in the swamps of South Florida , the bigger stuff ( 2 burner and 3 burners ) we drag out for events with the family or our friends , good video 👍

@mikemorgan5015 Жыл бұрын
If your CO monitor went up while you were fueling it, it's a false reading. CO is produced by incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons. Now it may have a cross sensitivity issue with other gases. Check your monitor manual. If it has a combustibles sensor often labeled as CH4 or methane which will pick up raw fuel vapors or natural gas. Blue flames don't make CO in any dangerous concentrations. When running right, the only real danger in a confined space is oxygen depletion from the stove using it up and fire of course. Better to err on the side of caution though. If you have any friends on your fire department, you may ask them to test your stove's emissions with one of their multi gas monitors, usually a Drager or MSA unit. They are calibrated and very accurate. Love these stoves, I have a lot of them too. It's addictive. Keep up the good videos!

Norman Morris Hey my Aussie friend, since you brought up the subject of shelf-stable food I hope I can ask you a question. In the past I used to purchase Bega cheese online. Man,I LOVED that stuff. The last shipment I received, without getting into it too much, The Familiar old can was printed with Bega, but then again the rest of the information was what I described as being in hieroglyphics. Completely not derstandable to me. After doing some research, I learned that Bega was doing this on purpose to appeal to a country the other side of the world. I stopped purchasing it immediately and returned the last order I had purchased. Could you shed some light on the subject if this is still something going on? I'm only asking because you stated you were from Australia, and you had an interest it seems in shelf-stable food. Thank you my friend for any information you could shed on this, hopefully KZbin won't scrub this question, because it is a legitimate question, and not promoting hate. Thanks

@@KevinSmith-yh6tl Bega has an interesting corporate life, and was sold to Kraft when they hit on hard times in Australia. Prior to that Kraft they did indeed make a canned (steel can) cheese, which was sold into Indonesia and the Middle East. This was then imported into other countries indirectly. In Australia it was a failure and sales were stopped shortly after. However, as this was not sold widely or for very long I do not know what happened to that particular product. Kraft introduced a glass jar of spreadable cheese, cheddar and plain variety, which is still sold, and has a shelf life (non refrigerated) of about 12 months. However once opened must be refrigerated and used within about 2 weeks before growing mould. Bega was recently sold back into Australian ownership, however, some products that were originally made under the Bega banner, and were internationally successful were kept by Kraft, and/or were licensed back. So we have both Bega and Kraft branded cheeses, block and slice, that come from the same group of factories, as does peanut butter. However the spreadable cheese from Kraft is licensed by Bega. As I said a very interesting corporate lifestyle.

If you find these stoves don't regulate gas flow well? Spit 5 feet of flames? Won't stay lit on low / simmer? They do clog up easily, when fuel gets left in them. They need a tune up! Clean / replace the generator. And the needle valves get gummed up too. Regular tune-ups keeps them shinny and running! And DO NOT STORE THEM WITH FUEL in the tank. This causes problems with everything, and will destroy seals.

If I remember correctly, this line of Coleman products was around in the 80's which is also why they specify unleaded gas. They even had smaller ones designed for backpacking.
@chrissewell16082 жыл бұрын
@@davidhawkins847 These actually started back in the late 60's or early 70's, with the Peak1 backpacker series. (These were Green, then Brown, and Black in color) Those ran solely on white gas / "coleman fuel". Then in the late 80's - 90's redesigned then to run off unleaded gas, being their "dual fuel" models (This were Gray). Then in the 90's came out with the multi-fuel series, which could also run on kerosene. Being the "Exponent" series. (Copper Color.)... Then the market shifted away from white gas to Butane. Coleman had already made multi-fuel stoves for the military, during WW2 (maybe earlier?) Which after the war, was sold to the public, for camping. These were known as the Coleman "G.I. Pocket stove". (These are tall, chrome plated stoves with a built on cook pot, pot handle, funnel & wrench).
@davidhawkins8472 жыл бұрын
@@chrissewell1608 Yep, unfortunately I'm old enough to remember most of those lines. Had one of the duel-fuel units myself, along with a matching lantern, though it didn't get a lot of use. I was doing more backpacking than car camping so the weight of the Coleman liquid fuel units were way out of any reasonable range for carry, though there was an exponent series unit designed specifically for backpacking. If I recall it had nearly the same form factor as the one shown in the video, just scaled down about 50-60%. While all of mine were destroyed, I think I still have some of the older units sitting in storage by other family members. Things handed down for a couple generations. Probably need to be rebuilt though.
