Anyway your video was great. My 414 has been sitting, cost 12 bucks. It’s having trouble holding pressure. I need a valve tool. But I can tell it’s going to work crazy good after I sort that out! Thanks so much for doing this video , it’s really helpful.

I bought 2 Colman stoves many years ago. One I bought at a flea market for $1.00 the other one was $10.00. I did pretty much what you did. Cleaned it and oiled the pump. The stoves worked well. My wife had a 4 burner stove top to cook. The whole family ate well in those days. Stove st

I have the same stove and while maintaining it I noticed the 3 springs. In the order they go in I concluded that the long spring goes in the middle and the course one goes nearest the tank.

Wow Wee! Thanks so much for this video. Found an old 413F stove in my long-gone father's barn (many decades old) and I want to try and get it to work. Under the inch layer of dust, it looks nearly new! (But alas will not pump) Check valve issue? Not sure.

Thanks. Showed me that I am not crazy, my 414 had a crushed needle in the generator from the factory. It never worked, lots of yellow flame, won't prime. I tried to bend it back but it does it again. Some kind of defect. Found a NOS generator from an early model like this one, so hopefully that is my fix. I miss having my stove!

Hi from Australia, I like your idea about nail polish, (have you tried stove paint? ) on the threads of the nozzle. Do you know what Coleman actually used? I have tried to find out but have not had any luck there Thank you great video I also remove the burns plates as there is often corrosion which effect’s the flame quality.

Won’t the fuel dissolve the nail polish? Makes perfect sense for sealing potential air gaps in the threads. Love your vids.

Our Trail Life troop inherited 3 good looking Powerhouse 414. They're leaking fuel at the back of the main burner. It seems the pipe from the gas tank isn't sweating tight enough? I'm just getting started on your video and excited that our 50+ trailmen may get to use these soon.

BBs & solvent shake around, dump out, rinse with fresh fuel/solvent, dump out, fill with fresh fuel, run it. Might have to pay attention to the generator after in case of build up but the BBs will knock any lacquer inside the tank. Run, reclean generator should last many more decades.

I've found your videos to be the best for repair and rebuild of the Coleman stoves. The one thing that I don't know is your name. Will you plz tell me your name so that I don't have to refer to you as Juju ? My wife's always asking me who I'm watching and I tell her Juju.

I know you have probably been asked this many times, but can you use gasoline in all the Coleman camp stoves like that??? I have two of them. I have one Coleman lantern and I think another one I have I believe is a Sears lantern and the Sears says dual fuel, I don't think neither of the stoves says dual fuel and the Coleman lantern doesn't say dual fuel either. Just curious. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the kind words I personally use gasoline all the time In the majority of my stoves. This will eventually come up your generator quicker than using white gas but since I work on them it doesn't bother me one bit and it's fairly easy to clean when that happens. Have a wonderful day blessings from Arizona

If you're gonna use gasoline I highly recommend using the lowest octane possible. If you use anything of high octane it has a lot more adjectives in it and will gum up your stove quicker then lower option fields.

@@jiujitsu2000 thanks, appreciate the reply. I didn't know if the stove or the lanterns had to say duel fuel or not to be able to use gasoline.

Not to say it won't work but my guess is that the gasoline will likely mess up your lantern's mantle and cause clogging and burn it out very quickly. The stove simply burns an open flame. Just a thought.

Hey mate, good job, nice vid, very instructional. I have the 414 dual fuel Colman so it was great to come across ur channel & vids & give mine a decent clean out as it wasn’t working the best. It is working a lot better now but I may have to re-clean the plunger area because I put a bit of grease in it & it might be too much, as I cant seem to get that higher flame and the whooshing sound like yours is performing, Im sure it can do better. 1 Question: is it possible to get these stoves to run on Deisel with a bit of tuning, maybe a smaller jet size & a bit of copper tubing around the generator area or copper wire. Like & sub & will be checking out ur other vids. TFS. Cheers from Australia

my 414 generator spring is also broken into 3 sections similar to this one and it makes me wonder... is it normal for these stove? BTW.... thanks for posting this video. It gave me the confidence to it tear apart and clean the generator. Now the stove is burning much better than before.
@evil17
@evil17 Жыл бұрын
I dont think It is broken, you will notice that the centre spring has a longer pitch than the other two & the last spring out is a bit longer than the other two, I noticed with mine that the centre spring was the dirtier of the 3 also, I believe this is in the design, not sure if it is to do with fuel tuning some how, or if it is possibly to do with maintenance cleaning or filtration to some degree, as they say not to use leaded fuels in these stoves as it can block them up prematurely, I thought it was just the jet that was affected, but maybe this centre spring attracts some of the impurities too. I am not a tech pro on the subject like this guy, just my observations after cleaning mine recently. I also used some carby cleaner and rattled the first two springs up and down the tube with my fingers on each end to help clear this centre spring area while slowly turning it as this area was making first two springs catch a bit, like his was. Hope this helps. Cheers

I've ruined the springs on two different stoves (413E I think?) trying to get them out. I've soaked the tubes in penetrate cleaner for days and used clothes hangers to try to twist and pull the springs out and one broke and the other stretched out of shape. As far as I know, you can't buy the spring . Does anyone have an idea how to get the spring out intact?

Slotted screwdriver. Screwdriver for slotted screws. Slotted screws are commonly round headed screws, hence a flat headed screwdriver would not work. Flat head screws are countersunk. They can take virtually any type of screwdriver. Slotted screwdriver. Nice cop on the stove. They're often $70 or more. Again, slotted screwdriver, phillips screwdriver, Torx screwdriver, square drive screwdriver et al. Pardon the rant-
