He's our best prospect, I think. I thought he wasn't making it past Vancouver so I'm so happy he fell to us at 17.

@@irvinepoker3187 I actually wanted Moore or Benson at 9, and Perreault at 17. I thought if we were gonna draft ASP then we'd have to take him at 9, but given how many high upside forwards there were in the draft, I think a defenseman at 9 would have been a bad move. Glad ASP fell, though. I think it's one of the biggest steals of the first round. Rangers getting Perreault at 23 is also a massive steal.

Itll be nice in a few years to have a Seider/Walman and Edvinson/ASP top 4. Nice mix of size, physicality, speed, offense and defense.

ASP should 100% start in the AHL next season, get used to the NA ice and have management monitor him and develop him closely so hes ready to make the jump sometime during the season or the following season.

Why is it nobody is rushing to sign kane? Why is coach steve quiet about kane? What is he not saying? Is it s coincidence the red wings fell one point short of making the playoffs?
@jeremykraenzlein5975
@jeremykraenzlein5975 5 ай бұрын
I think that Yzerman wants to finalize contracts with RFAs Seider and Raymond first, and then start looking into UFAs when he knows how much cap space he has left. There is still plenty of time before July 1 to get this all done, and then re-sign Kane. But of course, that depends on if Kane is even interested in re-signing with the Wings before testing the free market.

They simply could not afford Hronek's new contract demands with 1 year left. Seider and Raymond were the new priority. SY could have held on to Hronek and risk losing him for nothing if he played out the final year. Vancouver got a great asset. Have to wait and see how ASP pans out.

Vancouver also was willing to give up a lot for him. Even before we knew how much the player we got from this draft pick would exceed expectations in his draft +1 year, getting a mid first-round pick for a player that we originally drafted in the mid second round is a good exchange for the Wings. This is also a big credit to how well Hronek developed in his time here. It looks like this will ultimately be remembered as a trade which worked out well for both teams.

@@irvinepoker3187Our young D-man are simply not ready. I agree, i dont like the Holl deal. But Petry is only going to make 1.5 million. The Habs and Pittsburgh are eating most of his contract.
