Just guessing here, but they have to be the first ever to ask "who's your daddy" in a song. They performed some of the best rock keyboard solos ever.

The Zombies are an English rock band formed in St Albans in 1961. Led by keyboardist/vocalist Rod Argent and vocalist Colin Blunstone, the group had their first British and American hit in 1964 with "She's Not There"

This song was released in 1968. I was 11 yrs. old, and it was one of my favorite songs. It is timeless, and I never get tired of hearing it. The Zombies are definitely worth diving into. Thanks for another great reaction, JM! ✌💙✌

Oh wow, this song sure brought back some awesome memories! I remember vividly my hippy days. This song was popular during the Vietnam War and I was the wild (15 yr old) hippy girl running around in an beat up army jacket with a huge Peace sign ☮️ embroidered on the back. 😊 Great song, great reaction and thank you for resurfacing these memories for me! ✌️

"Time of the Season" is the last song featured on their 1968 album Odessey and Oracle. It was written by keyboard player Rod Argent. After it was recorded the band "hated" the song. The band decided things were not looking great for them so they had split up prior to the album release and everyone was surprised and thrilled the song became a big hit. Music can be like that sometimes.
@bradsense743111 ай бұрын
If I remember correctly how they told it, even while recording, Colin was not happy and they were arguing. Meanwhile Rod was urging Colin to just finish the vocals to be done with it all.

Love that album and when you listen I can understand why the band didn't like it. It didn't fit in with other songs. It's a great song but they had a point.

The keyboard used is a Hammond organ much favoured in the 60's by the likes of Keith Emerson, Jon Lord & Brian Augar.

This was before synthesizers so that was an electric piano quite likely a fender Rhodes. But I also kind of got Vibes of a Hammond B3 or an M3 organ, with the Leslie rotating speaker but if so it was really pulled back. But yeah the whole thing has such a cool vibe. This came out when I was in kindergarten basically. But I think it wove its way into the fabric of my childhood.

We were very lucky to get this song. They were on the verge of breakup when they recorded their 3rd album.... which was released as the 2nd. They dropped this track and it went nowhere, and frustrated, they finally broke up. THEN the track became a huge hit. Too late, they gone! Rod Argent made his own band called Argent (known for its hit "Hold Your Head Up"), and Colin Blunstone did some solo albums and worked with the Alan Parsons Project (yes, including "Eye in the Sky"), and eventually they got back together and have been making Zombies albums since then, including one in 2023! Worth a listen IMO. While they were gone, management created two fake bands from Michigan and Texas and had them tour as the Zombies. (The Texas one had two members of ZZ Top!) It's one of those sad success stories one sometimes hears about. They deserve so much more than they got.
