Rod Argent playing the organ, is considered one of the best. This Band was ahead of it's time. So darn good.

Correct, but you forget to mention that Argent, who would, after The Zombies, would be the eponymous leader of the band Argent, was not the singer - that was Colin Blunstone.

With groups like The Zombies & The Kinks, you're getting into what's known as the "second wave" of the British Invasion, along with the Rolling Stones.All these acts followed The Beatles to America and helped usher in a more modern, blues based style of rock music to Ameircan audiences.
@markusantonio4866

I thought the second wave was in the 80s like Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Banarama, Culture Club, just to name some. Many of them were synth pop, or new wave. I’m just curious.

This song is a good example of listening to it when your young and not having a clue what the lyrics are, just liking the beat, then hearing them again as an adult and really understanding what he's saying and thinking yeah he's a player lol

Such a great Band from England, that is from that era in the mid 60s, known as "The British Invasion," because all of these British Bands like The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, The Zombies and many more, came over to America, and took the teenage music world by storm. Those were some great days for Rock and Roll. So much new music coming out on the radio on a daily basis.

OMG, The Kinks and The Zombies in one day. Fantastic. She's Not There and Tell Her No are two more songs by The Zombies that are classics. Another classic for you to listen to Van is Hold Your Head Up by the band Argent. Rod Argent plays keyboards in both bands. This has been a great way to start off my morning. Thanks Van.

My parents were hippies before we kids came along. Once CDs came out and stuff like Columbia House was a thing, they bought this Time/Life set of 1960s-early 70s CDs that had all these songs. Stuff like Incense and Peppermints by Strawberry Alarm Clock. Still remember listening to that.

This one randomly was chosen by the algorithm, and was a fun reaction. However, you are 100% wrong, the organ player was singing the echo part, he wrote it, and his name is Rod Argent. To hear another magnificent Argent organ solo, the song Hold Your Head Up, by the group, Argent, has been hailed by luminary keyboardist from Yes, Rick Wakeman, as the greatest organ solo ever. The lead singer, Colin Blunstone, is the one clapping and breathing into the mike.

Hey Van, I agree that Rod Argent (on his Hohner Pianet electric piano) and Colin Blunstone's unique voice are mesmerizing on this song. You might also want to check out their 1964 (1st) hit song, She's Not There, (which Santana covered in 1977 with their jazzy Latin flavors and got their own hit) and 1965's Tell Her No. ✌💘

The breath your hearing is from Colin Bluntstone the lead singer. He is still amazing to this day! My parents saw him back in 1972 he sang 3 feet off the mic all night and even now he still sings 3 feet off the mic! Check out the song “She loves the way they love her!” No sorry bro That’s Rod Argent on the Keyboard! He wrote the music and lyrics to the song!

Slang and innuendos didn't aways mean then what they mean now. And yes, I remember when this song came out...in 1968. The keyboard player was Rod Argent, and the vocalist was Colin Blunstone. I was glad that my parents couldn't understand the lyrics back in the 60's and 70's. The first 45 I ever bought was the Kinks 'Lola'. They would have come unglued if they could have understood it.

Oh yeah.. very cool song.. I'm with ya the clap and sigh are so smooth ..without that the song wouldn't be complete.. I've heard that in the 50s and 60s hipsters/beatniks referred to the boyfriend or other cool dudes as daddy or daddyo.. much like how we use "dude" now... the singer and musician are not the same.. well the person on the keys is part of the harmony but not the lead.. check the video. Considered very sexy back in the day... lastly when they were inducted into the Rock Hall not long ago they performed this song.. they still sounded good.. check it out...

Hey LFR. Speaking of Zombies. How about the very start of the word Zombies? There's a song by Sabaton called Attack of the Dead Men. It's about the 150 gassed russian soldier of a fortress on tge verge of death brabely got up to counter attack the 7000 advancing German soldiers. The German saw soldiers that should already have been dead get up, and charge them, spouting out parts of their lungs and blood as they walked with a heavy limp. From what I've seen from you so far. I think you'll love it. It's educational and fun.
