Great Western Trail - Solo Playthrough

It's almost 4 years after this playthrough and the 2 player playthrough from the same week. Strangely, I hadn't played Great Western Trail until today. It was good to be able to watch these 2 playthroughs as I learned. I'm looking forward to watching the New Zealand playthroughs now that I understand the base game. This is such a great game. I love Maracaibo, so it's no surprise that I really like this.

Great playthrough! I'm reasonably suspicious someone got this for me this Christmas. Looks forward to playing. This was one of my favorite multiplayer game experiences.

I had the original and sold it because my other half was not into it. I watched about 10 minutes of this and ordered it again. I'll have to find people to play with other than her. If not, I'll play it solo. This game is too good to not have and play. Thanks for the video.

At 36:50 Temujin is right, Sam would have gone up to the hazard tile as that is the shortest route. Sam would have made it to KC 1 turn earlier.

Other than Kansas City lower payout from 6 to 4 is there any other changes to the board? Does Kansas City still give you -6 at the end of the game for every time you deliver to it?

Wait, why would you goto Kansas in old game for 6 gold, It also gave 6 penaly points right? Or is the reason 6 dollars early on can easily be used to mitigate those 6 negative points?

Yep. Expert players go to Kansas once or twice early in the game. Money is tight and it is totally worth it in the long run.

Just played the game for the first time yesterday and we got a bunch of rules wrong ( I watched some video's beforehand, but the owner of the game didnt know the rules very well himself) We also didnt start where we wanted, just all at the start and we took so many stops before arriving in Kansas for the first time.

The insert for this game is awful but the game is brilliant. Bag and sleeve is the way to go. I know many games have bad inserts but was expecting more as this is a second edition.

Agreed. This is the first game where I've ever just immediately thrown the insert away. It was 100% designed for packing/shipping and not for storage.

i have this game, bought based on the hype and reviews. I played it once...and hated it. I have it for sale. Its fiddly as all get-out and not very exciting and an absolute slog to teach and a ton of rules to remimber.
