As much credit must be given to Jane Alexander, not only for her courage in accepting the challenge of playing the role, but also of matching JEJ scene for scene with an incredible performance. How many other actresses of the time would have been not up to the task? The racial themes aĺone were probably enough to have dissuaded 90% of them. This was at the time of the assassination of Martin Luther King still reverberating through society, the Watts riots, right after the passage of the Civil Rights Act...she was a talented and courageous woman.

Currently watching The Great White Hope on TV, which I have seen numerous times and it doesn't get old and stale. Great performances by James Earl Jones and Jane Alexander. I have read other comments on this page about a reboot of the movie, probably to make it relevant to the BLM movement. That's not a bad idea. The task would be to find the right actors to play those roles. Thanks for the trailer.
