I do actually take mine out (my comment above was a joke obviously) and not so long ago I had an inquisitive dolphin swimming alongside me but I have to admit when it first surfaced I totally wasn't expecting it and nearly shit my boardies! It turned out to be an awesome experience. Where I live however (south coast of WA) they tag a lot of big whites and monitor their movements.. its alarming how many there are and how often they frequent shallow water only a coupla hundred metres offshore so I'm half expecting a proper scare in the future.

Guys, in a situation like this, it wouldnt matter if the shark was 8 feet or 16 feet. If it wants to take you in, it can. A 6 footer can take off an arm or a leg. Cheers for the composure. Charles Furer That is so interesting. I don't scuba dive, but I used to love the ocean, and snorkeling. I've heard divers talking about "sharky" feelings. One time, I was snorkeling off a platform in cozumel, that the locals had told me about, about 40 yards off shore. Underneath, the platform, about 20 feet deep was a sunken boat. I left my girlfriend, on shore and proceeded to swim out. I begin to dive near this platform, and I swear, I had that "Sharky" feeling, like something was watching/hunting me. Every inch of my body was screaming danger, danger. It was overwhelming, and strange because I was an ocean lover since I could walk. I had never felt like that before. I swam back to the platform as fast as I could, and climbed on it. I sat on it for a few, trying to figure out why I was so panicked, but decided not too swim to shore. I started yelling at my girlfriend to get help, someone came out with a wave runner. He gets there, and low and behold...there's a bunch of thrashing right in front of me, before he pulls up, and then, there it was, probably 8 or 9 feet and stocky. A huge bull shark.
@matthew82057 жыл бұрын
Justforkicks there is a sunken plane about 20 yards past that or maybe we are talking about the same place. I remember eating at this cool mexican restaurant then scuba diving right off the coast by the cruise ship. I didn't see any sharks, but there were massive gar fish. That's insane, I was diving and swimming all day. I felt the same eerie feeling when trying to dive to plane (it was too deep) but I ignored it. Good thing you didn't!

You saw an 8 footer and decided to keep surfing?? An 8 ft. gws is still a juvenile and hasn't yet stepped up to eating seals and their ilk. But geez dude it can certainly kill a person very easily. A leg bite that severs the femoral artery and you'd exsanguinate before reaching the shore. Leaving behind any family and friends. And for what?? To catch a few more waves?? A spearfisherman barely offshore in Santa Barbara was bit on his swimfin by an 8 footer and got it recorded on his gopro. He was very lucky because as the shark was coming back for a second nibble he was able to jab it near it's eye with his spear gun. Shark wanted none of that and sped off. Idk dude be careful I guess.

How many chances does a circling shark have to give before human brains kick in and say I'm outta here. Really

Only thing separating them from the shark is some fiberglass xD

I've heard sharks can smell a drop of blood in the water from a mile away. How far away can they detect when you completely shit your bowels?

Do yourselves a big flavour. Bugger off those toys and buy a real boat. Because this shit could have gone south very quickly.

WOW! Thank you for sharing this with the world! Great White Sharks are incredible. I've loved them since I was a kid. Thank you for showing it the respect it deserves. Afterall, you are in their domain. 1♡

You appear quite confident, this apex does not want to perform the easy task to help you deboard your tiny vehicle. Kudos!

I’m having a damn heart attack over here watching this! Every time that fin came up I literally had goosebumps and was ready to scream like I was being attacked! My god! And the ending where the shark starts to get a little splash happy, ummmmmm hell no!

Why would anyone even consider taking their small little kayaks off to the ocean where a.) HUGE fish/sharks can easily tip them over or b.) small waves or wakes caused by larger boats can easily tip them over?

I would freeeeak out and die from heartattack.

I think it was waiting for you to catch something so it could steal it from you. It might have made a habit of relating small boats to food. . . I probably wouldnt want to use a kayak in the ocean for that reason.

Now that's just plain torture. I always wondered about what could happen to people in Kayaks in the ocean. Now I know. No thank you. Not interested in the ocean. I was a swimmer as a kid and when I was about 15, I swam out to the deep ocean and would just tread water endlessly, enjoying the serenity. But one day I felt something big bump my leg. I didn't know about the habits of sharks yet. And maybe that was a good thing, because I didn't panic.
@susiearviso30327 жыл бұрын
Wasn't aware of the habits of sharks. How they operate. I knew of sharks, but never really had any input about them at that point. "lol"

McLarenHonda I can't stand people like you. Endlessly trying to make fun of someone's intelligence. I watched shark week all of my childhood life and still didn't know until recently thru KZbin that sharks test bump things to get a sense of what it is. Get a life dude. Smh.

yup. used to see this all the time when we were tagging them near Santa Cruz, CA. they will spy hop to get a good look at you as well, which is freaky as hell if you aren't ready for it.

@FREEDOM14U7 жыл бұрын
Bring their head out of water so they can see you better. Orcas will actually go vertical with their heads bouncing out of the water to see seals on the ice flats, and communicate back to the pod on how to attack it with a wave.

It was a 4m (12 ft) baby shark then, but it was curious and investigating trying to figure out what they were. Problem is, they use their jaws to "investigate" quite often. If it takes a test bite and spits the chunk of boat out, the boat is still missing a chunk. I have been told the best thing is to be quiet and still in hopes that it just leaves, making noise and splashing will alert it that you are indeed a living thing and may trigger an attack. But my testicles are not nearly big enough to actually do that and I would probably freak out big time. Oh well, gotta go sometime and fishing is fun if a bit risky.
