3rd Visit to Norwich which the terminus of the Great Eastern Main Line, Bittern Line to Sheringham via Cromer, Wherry Lines to Lowestoft & Great Yarmouth via Acle or Reedham, Breckland LIne via Ely.

Norwich was opened in May 1st 1844 slightly to the south by the Yarmouth & Norwich Railway before it was renamed Norwich Thorpe on December 12th 1849.
The site of today's station dates from being re-sited on May 3rd 1886 as it became apparent a new station location was needed to deal with the growing traffic of the time.
In fact at one time there was 3 stations within the Norwich area with the re-sited Norwich Thorpe, the former Norwich station of Norwich Victoria and Norwich City.
Both Norwich Victoria which was a terminus for London Bound services was closed in 1916 with Norwich City closing in 1959 and Norwich Thorpe would be renamed Norwich on May 3rd 1969
Today there are 6 Platforms with Platforms 1 and 2 used by services from London Liverpool Street, Platforms 3, 4, 5 and 6 used by East Midlands Railway and Regional services to Sheringham, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.
A lot has changed with Rolling Stock on Greater Anglia recently with the Class 745s replaced the long running operation of loco hauled services with the Class 90s between November 2019 and March 2020 with some of the Class 90s moving to Freightliner.
Today all Class 745s and 755s are maintained at nearby Crown Point Depot which is where the Wherry lines and GEML separate on departure
The Class 755s in both 3 and 4 car formation began running in September 2019 although did have teething issues with signal interference caused by sotfware issues however gradually have replaced Class 153s, 156s and Class 170s with the Class 153s and 170s going to Transport for Wales and the 156s being temporarily transferred to East Midlands Railway
East Midlands Railway hourly services to and from Norwich head to Liverpool Lime Street via Ely, Peterborough, Nottingham, Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly and Widnes
At present mostly operated by Class 158s although in recent months Class 170 Turbostars have been slowly introduced for Liverpool to Norwich services.
Times may have changed however it doesn't take away the reputation of the station itself.

Yes normally however what happened is that on the day it got cancelled at Manchester Piccadilly due to being very late caused by overrunning engineering works early that morning in the Chesterfield area
