To put it in perspective for americans who love NFL, most of these guys are similar to tight-ends and big wide receivers. They are incredibly athletic, with a vertical leap upwards of 3 feet and run more than 10 miles a game. The hits are hard, and there is no padding.

In case there's any non-aussies out there, the mark at 6:50 needs explanation...this was the grand final (aust. superbowl equivelant), his team are 4 points up, with about 5 seconds to go. It was in the other teams forward area. If the other team marked, they would kick after the siren to win the championship. He marks, and wins his team the championship for the first time in 70 years...THAT'S why it's so great!

The mark is great feature of the aussie rules game,but it makes the game stop start.They were trying to introduce into gaelic football,but it didn't work.Some things work in some games ,but not in others.Take the mark out of aussie rules you completely change the game.Just shows you what a great game this is compared to this international rules muck series recently in ireland

Umm the greatest marks doesn't even have the greatest of all time?? Where the hell is Nick Riewoldt's against Sydney?? Far better than Jonathan Brown's which was similar, and far better than Ashley Sampi's from the same year. Those two managed to be included so why not Riewoldt's? Bit of a fail for whoever made the video.

Smith (Melb) 2nd, Roach (Rich) 3rd "The Buzz" (Carl) 4th but the best mark I EVER SEEN was Bill Ryan (Geel) in the 1968 semi against St Kilda. He was 3 players high and took it on his chest. If you seen the photo you would know what I mean

Chris Tarrant. The mark was a shoe-in for mark of the year in 2001 until Gary Moorcroft of Essendon took what was just about the biggest hanger of all time against the Western Bulldogs later that season.

RU also sometimes has some impressive aerial catches, but they're nowhere near as common as these amazing AFL jumps/marks. It all boils down to the rules of the game.
