@@wintersweeter I do take vocal talent into consideration though as one of the criteria, so it is not just most influential. Greatness implies both skill and success. Someone who has influence and success may not be 'great' depending on how they got there. And someone who is highly skilled (even the most in the world) without achievements is hard to call 'great'. Yet it is neither one in isolation, but both that add up.

Again, this I can wholly agree with especially MJ, Dimash, Freddy, Stevie Wonder and Mick Jagger. Where Dimash sits at only age 26 and considering where he was three years ago and not yet well known in the West at the moment, I believe he will rise into the stratosphere in years to come. @@k.vn.k I love Know, Hyde and Olimpico, but other than that prefer his Kazakh, Chinese and even English songs, like I Will Never Breathe Again. And SOS of course - it will always be there on top. Sinful Passion isn't Krutoy, by the way, it's A Studio. I don't like the song, especially the original version, although of course what Dimash did with it is phenomenal, and the song is beyond recognizable, I still can't bring myself to really love it compared to the others I mentioned.

Agree. This list is VERY fair. I'm a Dimash fan but I give a thumbs up for the list. Dimash still has a lot of work to do to overtake the 2 legends (eventhough vocally he's second to none). I think right now he's a legend in the making. Hopefully the world will acknowledge him soon. Plus, he needs no 1 hits. He's not into mainstream music so it will be harder. But hey, even Bohemian Rhapsody didn't become no 1 right away.

Great tier list! Even if Dimash still has a lot of work to do to be like Freddie and MJ, he is very young and hopefully has a lot of years to get to the very top. I agree that Dimash still has a lot of work in terms of getting world wide, but that's just his beginning. If he is on the top now, can you imagine what he'll become in next 10 years??? 😉 With that speed of growing he will top the top ones on the planet. He already did it /my opinion/. There is no live or dead singer, better vocally and technically than him. And he is just 26. I can't wait to see his future. Wow, Caleb, nice vid. And it's not just because of what you said about Dimash. Yes, he is truly highly skilled in his craft and blessed with this ability to connect with his audience on a level that astounds. Anyone who is interested in breaking him down into elements that can be replicated will be stumped by this. And the greats all have this indefinable, uncategorisable, elusive X Factor. People can copy this charisma or whatever you call it up to a certain point but not to the level of people like Dimash, MJ or Freddie Mercury. These people just stand there and this aura radiates from them and just mows people down. And ever-increasing fame just seems to blow the level of this X Factor to unbelievable levels. Another element that separates these people from others is that they live for their art. They literally eat drink breathe their music. Not many people are willing to go to this level. Some might even call them insane but then isn't genius just a step away from insanity? Depending on how you look at it. I mean, wouldn't you call these people obsessed? Willing to go to extreme lengths for their art? LOL. Only history will prove you right. But I think you will be. But one might ask ... who am I? I'm not a musician and I can barely pick out a simple tune on the piano. What I AM is Ms Every Person on the Street, who has never bothered much about music before (although I have very eclectic taste, ranging from country music to Kitaro style world music to Tibetan chants)... I'm someone who got jolted by Dimash's music and performances and moved way out of her comfort zone to try and figure out where on earth this music was originating from... it was that brain-melting. I had to know who his teachers were, what his upbringing was like, what his personal beliefs were because his music goes way beyond simple notes on a music sheet. Then I had to learn how to navigate alien platforms like Instagram, Vkontakte and Weibo just so I could get to his music and stories. And Dimash's fan clubs are full of people like me. No ordinary singer can do this. Maybe some people will never 'get' him. But it doesn't matter. He and his music is here for the world to experience. And even if it takes eons, he will be recognised most definitely as one who changed the musical landscape.

Interesting video! Art is not a science and beauty is in the eye of the beholder therefore what’s good for you may not be even relevant for me like MJ for example. Was he an influencer? Totally! But that was back in the 80’s. Dimash in the other hand is a current success that hasn’t become an influence yet in the west but it’s on the right path to do so IF he finds someone smart enough to promote his amazing work all over the world. Today Dimash is on the top of the charts in Cuba! A nation that doesn’t really follow opera but it’s cult enough to appreciate Dimash’s work of art. There’s so much still to come from him, we can only wait and see.

I really liked that you took into account the whole world, not just the Western one. And he's still such a beginner with this whole international career thing. Dimash is absolutely of the chart in terms of vocals, as you said. However, I have big doubts that he will be as iconic as MJ or Freddie, although I am really hoping that. The main reason is not the language, rather the genre he performs, his style is so much far from being mainstream. Just like Pink Floyd type of groups, he is absolute great, but not everyone can listen and appreciate him.

Listen to Michael's albums there is not that much pop, he crossed so many genres. I think he is the most versatile vocalist ever. Dimash was singing Michael's songs and he doesn't sound that good as he sounds in his genre.

If you actually listened to his music or seen any of his performances you would think differently. He is far above Justin Bieber. He had been compared to greats, mostly jagger and Bowie. People have a biased opinion because he was in a boy band. Not that that was a bad thing. One direction was the biggest most successful band, even surpassing the Beatles success. Each member of the band is crazy talented. When people discover Harry they are surprised because they expect a pop singer. How ever he made a big decision to be a rock star. He really is. I mean he is praised by Stevie nicks herself: Not only is he an amazing vocalist and a great showman but he is a kind person. One of the most humble and grounded artists out there. His whole thing is “treat people with kindness”-(Most celebs merchandise is a photo of them Harry’s is clothing and objects saying treat people with kindness, also all of money goes to charity) Harry styles is one of the most influential artists and just because he is crazy famous doesn’t mean he overrated. Don’t go around comparing him to pop stars like Justin Bieber, although Justin is still very talented.

For example everything you say about Freddie and MJ is absolutely right, but I think Freddie is perceived like the biggest legend ever and maybe there is reason for that.. Freddie doesn’t have a perfect technique by choice and as an overall performer he was able to communicate with his audience like no other.
