1972 Dolphins at Steelers playoff game. Dolphins punter was given permission any time he wanted because Steelers had a bad habit of just turning around and running. It wasn't even a called play, the punter just took off on a 4th and long and picked up 20 before anybody even noticed he was running down the field. THAT was the best fake punt ever. It iced the game for Miami and was a big part of their perfect season.

Doubt that there is any film of it, but in 1963, the Steelers were trailing Dallas 19-17 with about 4 minutes to go. The Steelers had to win to have a shot at the Conference title the following week. On fourth and sixteen at their own 12 yard line, the Steeler punter (also their starting qb, Ed Brown) threw a 40 plus yard completion to Red Mack, even though the entire Dallas team knew it was coming. The Steelers went on to score a TD (after converting a fourth and one instead of trying a 45 plus yard field goal into the wind) and won, 24-19. Then they lost to New York the next week.

i didn't know that if you gave up a saftey it negated any penalties on that play. pretty smart.
@MiriOhki2 жыл бұрын
@@johnbecay3859 it isn’t that it negates the penalties, it’s that there were no defensive penalties. If there’s defensive penalties on the final play as time expires, the offense gets one untimed down. But if there’s any offensive penalties, the game ends. So in this case it didn’t matter if they shot every single defensive player with a minigun, or committed every offensive penalty in the book, the game would have ended. So they just gave the other team their two points, and held all over the place, because a 3 point lead and 0:00 on the clock means it’s over.
@johnbecay38592 жыл бұрын
@@MiriOhki thanks for the clarification. i knew that but it totally slipped my mind. this is a brilliant play...hold, hold, hold, take the safety and time expires. i'm impressed. coaches and players continue to find ways to tweak the game of football.

The play at 6:30 is illegal. In American rules the snapper has to let go of the ball immediately after he stops moving the ball backward, which he didn't here. In neither American nor Canadian rules is the snap allowed to go to a player who started on the offensive line on that snap, which it did here. The only way this works is the officials lost sight of the ball.
@bigpoppa12342 жыл бұрын
I assume the snapper can't trap the ball with their legs?
@goodmaro2 жыл бұрын
@@bigpoppa1234 You assume correctly for American rules. The snapper is allowed to brush a leg with the ball, or even to end the snap with the ball against his own thigh, but only if an eligible teammate simultaneously takes the ball. But the snapper can't hold the ball there while waiting for a teammate to come for it. In Canadian rules he can.

Consistently Pray for forgiveness, guidance in a good (positive) direction, and for help against evil. Pray to be saved from hell (whatever that may be). Pray for your friends and your family too, it only takes a minute or so/less at a time to pray. Do it and your life will slowly get better, or maybe quickly. It probably just depends on you and the kind of person you are/have been. Don't wait until its too late and you have to suffer the consequences of built up bad karma from immoral acts/unrepented sins. Maybe together we can help make the world a better place by changing ourselves for the better, and changing things around us for the better. And addressing/thanking the CREATOR, LORD GOD at the beginning and end of your prayers would be a good idea 😊 Or just be my friend if you don't want to say the prayer 😄 I'm trying to help you get right with the LORD🙏 Amen. 🙏 You should prostrate yourself if you don't want to do spoken prayer, or do both ☺🙏 Please worship the LORD GOD and not any idol.
