Also exactly one frame passes between him being at ledge and hitting the wall, so i think some kind of really weird mechanic or glitch is at plqy here during the hitstop of the spike

@@diamonddotzip5678 looking at it frame by frame, I am definitely not seeing a tech animation. A tech would cancel all momentum and have a distinctive animation. The weird thing is that bowser is flying in the direction he is facing. My best theory: Bowser DI'd and SDI'd in towards the stage. This caused him to somehow clip through the stage, just barely enough that his environmental collision box (ECB) somehow registered a collision with the inside surface of the stage wall. This might at least explain why he went the direction he did, because flying at that angle (slightly inwards) into a diagonal surface of this angle would bounce you more horizontally inward. After the collision, the ECB somehow changed shape/size in such a way that he did not have any further interaction with the stage after bouncing. That assumes stage collisions are judged by ECBs, as in previous games, and based on the fact that certain hurtboxes/body parts can sort of go through walls, that's probably true. Idk, Ultimate is bad lol. Edit: Hmm, looking at the shockwave of collision, it definitely is directed outwardly from the wall, implying a collision with the outer surface, not an inner one. Idk if that completely disproves this theory or not. We can definitely say though, that very high knockback can cause some abnormalities with collisions. This has always been the case, I think, and clearly Ultimate didn't exactly fix stage collisions, what with people randomly phasing through some stages.

And about glitchy hitstop: that definitely is a thing in Ultimate and could definitely have played a part here. Bowser did go through the exact number of frames of hitstop Yoshi fair causes before colliding into the diagonal wall for the expected number of frames with the expected animation. The culprit was definitely in the transition between these two states.

If you press shield during a kill screen then you'll always tech afterward if you can tech. If you press the shield button twice it doesn't work, but they're still the easiest techs in the game, so an experienced player shouldn't be surprised if it happens.

just personal preference, i like the Sonic music Yeet uses for the Yeet clip of the day, and I kinda wish that when they have Yeet clips, the vid would keep that song going for the outro, instead of swapping. The song vibes, and it feels weird for a song like that to end and then get swapped for the more abrupt outro song they put in. But again, just my preference. nice vids :)

You hit a directional dodge as soon as you collide with a wall, floor, or cieling. If done on a floor it will cause you to dodge roll. If done on a wall or cieling it will prevent you from “bouncing” off of whatever surface you techd on. Keep in mind that “tech” is just short for technique. :)
