Mike Stringer is an epic guitar player. Anyone who knows Mike knows how damn good he is. But theres something beautiful about a song like this where its the most simple and basic riff played throughout yet be one of Mikes most awesome songs hes written.

I'm sure I'm lacking enough exposure to modern bands, but as a longtime Meshuggah fan, I feel like Spiritbox legit made the low djenty 8string guitar register their own in a way that I haven't heard others do really. It's not a gimmick, it's not a copycat, it's clearly inspired by in the best of ways, but this guitarist feels like he really took the door meshuggah (and korn and devin townsend and others) kicked in and made it his own, with his own vision for it and it blends so well with Courtney's range. Probably my favorite modern band I discovered. Have you heard Bleach Bath Richard? Earlier one of theirs but one of my favorites for sure.

Funny, I just watched this, and thought "I wonder if they've done Gojira". I find your Gojira video for The Art of Dying from a year ago, and it starts with Judson covering Paranoid Android, and Richard wearing a Dysmorfectomy shirt. Now a year later you're covering Exit Music (For a Film) and Gangrenectomy shirt. Also Richard is wearing the same exact sweatshirt and iconic Nike cap. Probably the same jeans too lol.

I guarantee I looked like a meerkat when they took 2nd stage at Ozzfest 2001. Is incredible to think that they had only played a handful of shows before being invited to be part of the Ozzfest tour. Was a fan immediately. Had to wait months for pre-order of original Jihad EP, and then was able to meet them at Ozzfest '02 at the FYE tent. Any time they came through Indiana over the years I made sure to see their shows (and if was available to, personally interact with) the various iterations of the band. Were always extremely nice to talk with. Although she mentioned recently she has hung up the mic, Ms. Shamaya, in my mind, is an amazing lyricist, with a fairly unique style, and really is one of the pioneers in female extreme vocals. Always gonna be a fan. Hoping I can cross paths again at some point.

Glad you finally got back to some more Spiritbox! This song was written quickly, just because they wanted something stupid heavy. I think it's taking a stab at the evangelical 'holy rollers' - there isn't a deep amount of meaning to it. A reaction to their earlier work, 'Trust Fall', would be great! A lot different than their newer stuff.

Hello, I was wondering, do you get a copyright claim for this? or how are you able to play their song in your video? Asking because I'm looking to make a video about them, and want to use their music in it.
@Greatmeasures19 сағат бұрын
Oh yes. Because we don’t stop the track and listen to it all the way through, we get copyrighted for everything.

I think this song is about someone that would be viewed as evil from a christian perspective. i think the narrator in this song is from the "bad guy." Or entity i think this narrator is killing someone, and this take my body instead rather then the wine(which is obviously a refernce to Jesus) Fade into oblivion like a blade Falling slowly, curse the holy down And when I die, you won't pray for me That's when I learn to cut my ties these sort of lines make this clear to me. I am pagan myself though and ex-christian, that christian belief system didn`t work for me, but more power to those that it works for, as long as they don`t force their beliefs unto others

@@7ChaosBlack Fair enough if you judge them solely by this track, but if anything this track is kindof an exception. They have a much more varied register, song structure, instrumentation etc to them and I'd give something like Bleach Bath or Trust Fall a chance, because pigeon holing the band on this one track really wouldn't be doing them justice at all.
