well... I have. I wanted to buy the 5-year vehicle care plan offered by BMW USA. The finance manager at my BMW dealer REFUSED to sell it to me when I was picking up my new car. He said I didn't drive enough miles per year to make it worthwhile. (only put on about 5000 miles a year at most) He used my previous BMW's service history to determine that. I got no where, so I went to another BMW a couple of weeks later and bought the BMW plan.

I have. I've had some good experiences. In and out not feeling like I had regrets or a bad experience. I gave them multiple repeat business and sent friends there with the same. We've even received several 50.00 checks for referrals. However, I have experienced some shady stuff, and didn't spend my hard earned money with them.

These high prices will do wonders in keeping dealer inventories high and after many of them have been sitting unsold for 2 or more years the only way the vehicles will sell is with huge discounts. A $100,000 vehicle at $50,000 or $60,000 may be necessary to sell two year old vehicles. GM, Ford and Stallantis all got greedy and that will cost them all dearly. Stallantis had the largest price indreases and they are hurting the most. The manufacturers witih the smallest increases seem to be doing the best. But other changes with new engines and transmissions which are unproven present the possibility or huge recalls should the reliability not be there.

If you can go to the dealership down the road and get the car without the mark up, then don't bother the dealership that is trying to get the mark up. Your words are fact. I'll try and be brief with my experience. I had a 97 SVT Cobra. The dealership let the good mechanics work on the side, using the bay, equipment to keep these good mechanics. One day, I pulled up, and Roy, the mechanic was boxing up a part to ship off. He had pulled it out of the engine. I asked why he was wrapping it and putting it in a box? He said, this part never failed but now they have engineered to fail at around 120k. He said, the company ( you know who I'm referring to) makes way more money off parts and labor than they do selling cars. He said if the "brand" wanted to, because they have been making engines over 100 years they could make an engine that would easily run 1 million miles. They don't because there is no money in that. I was in my late 20s then. It was an eye opener!
