***** Same?Dude: is Greek Easter and greek Christmas with the rest of the Orthodox world?
@DecadentBehaviour8 жыл бұрын
+Jim G I am Serbian, and we are Eastern Othodox as well, and have the same greetings for Easter, just on Serbian language,. We say Hristos Voskrese" and greeting back is " vaistinu Voskrese". We do fast before Easter as well.
@jimgliguroski40988 жыл бұрын
DecadentBehaviour GorgeousMe Whole truth and nothing but the truth and Hristos se rodi on Christmas 07 January, so should you as a real Orthodox, greek orthodox and greek Easter, do you believe in that? Christmas with the Catholics and Easter with us.
@DecadentBehaviour8 жыл бұрын
+Jim G Of course Christmas is January 7th, however it was not up to Greek people but Greek Orthodox Church to decide to switch to Gregorian calendar. I certainly hope our Church with keep with Julian calendar and if they do switch in my life time, I will still celebrate January 7th as our Christmas:-)

Me and my cousin have a tradition where we bring home a candle that’s lit and we try to keep it lit all the way home
@CDRNY254 жыл бұрын
This is a very old tradition of the Greek Orthodox Christians of Palestine. They go to the Church of Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and drive home with lit candles.
@reptilejh3 жыл бұрын
This tradition is present in all Orthodox churches if I'm not mistaken. I'm a member of an OCA parish and we do it.

Much of the English language is Greek either directly or indirectly, and so naturally it would be easy for a native Greek speaker to speak perfect English, aside from that Greeks love to impersonate each other and this guy was just being Greek by making fun of modernized greeks in a comical way, the Greeks were great artists and even invented comedy, this guy is very Greek indeed! ;)
