What about if black king goes forward to h6 or g6? Afert the Bxh7, Kxh7, Ng5+
@marcusrobinson9639
@marcusrobinson9639 3 жыл бұрын
If Kh6, Nxf7+ is a discovered double-check by the bishop and knight, forking the king and queen. Black will lose the queen and a pawn for a knight, which is completely losing. If Kg6, the move h4 by white threatens h5. Black can't properly defend both h5 and Qd3+. Why? If h5, the king would be forced onto h6, which loses the defence of the f7 pawn, and just like the first time, Nxf7+ loses the queen. Going back, if after Kg6 and h4, if black plays a random move, Qd3+ by white forces the move f5, otherwise the king will be checkmated on the side of the board. After f5 by black, h5+ still forces the king away from the defence of the f7 square, so the discovered check by bishop still loses the queen Hope my explanation helped a little, but if it's hard to visualize, you can always set up the board and play out the moves

Hey Kevin, would you analyse that too if the king goes to g6 at 1:40 that is considered black's best response to the sacrifice as far as I have known..
@umangknight4775
@umangknight4775 3 жыл бұрын
White's next move would be h4 and h5 on next move. Black's king would be forced to go to h6. Then Nxf7 capturing queen on the next move and opening the way to mate Black's king soon using White's own queen
@iplgeek
@iplgeek 3 жыл бұрын
Then Qd3+ is crushing. Since all of black’s pieces are so holed up there’s no good way to block the check (f5 loses to en passant on f6), and so black’s position completely crumbles.
@kuyadong6791
@kuyadong6791 3 жыл бұрын
@@iplgeek Qd3+ is not a good move because there is f5. Though en passant capture is playable but after dxf6, there is a simple Kxf6 and then comes Ke7 and black is now safe although his structure is already crumbled but he's not losing yet. The first commentator is correct on his analysis which is h4. Only then Qd3+ is a best move if black goes Kf5.

h4 with the threat of h5 is definitely the best option for white.

what if the king just abandons the castle by going g6 after checking with the knight? had that happen once. and then anytime i try a greek gift and analyze my game stockfish calls it a blunder lol. guess my setups are not correct. usually just look to make sure the knight is off the castle, if my bishop isn't at original post i check to make sure the queen can't take my knight when i check. i doubt stockfish is wrong but can't figure out why it's not a good setup for a greek gift

At 3:30 Qh5 is actually much better than Nxf7, because after that if black plays Bxg5 you take with your bishop, and if he doesn't take with his queen on g5 you threaten mate in 2 with Bg6.

Just fyi if you are playing as black and made the mistake to castle. The best continuation is to accept the bishop sacrifice and then give up your queen to take the knight on g5. You will be far behind, but you can still survive and maybe your opponent blunders their queen and if that happens you are up a piece. As white, if your opponent takes your knight, obviously take the queen and try to simplify to an endgame as you are up a lot of material.
