Your videos are particularly fantastic for engineering students. Our professors have so many different ways of writing delta, sigma, pi, tau, zeta etc.... so seeing the variations helps a lot! Thanks!!

I would like also to add that some people do not write the capitals so pointy. It's common, especially if you writing quickly, letters like Α, Δ, Λ, Μ and N to have a kind of curvy edges and lines.

Isn't koppa (Ҁ) still used in Greek for the number 90? I was hoping Chromozol would show us how to write the ancient letters vau, koppa, and sampi (6, 90, and 900) in Greek. I've actually seen his ligature for "st" used for 6, so I'm a little confused.

Thank you. Your two videos seem to be the best source of knowledge for those who just started learning Greek and don't know how to write the letters. Would be also great to look at actual words written in real time to understand how letters are connected and which combinations are particularly tricky.
@gdgdgdgdgdgdgdgd7 жыл бұрын
BTW, when I was looking for "greek handwritten", I unfortunately watched these videos after all the others. Why? Because of the "alternates" word. I thought your videos were about fancy ligatures, calligraphy and stuff like that. I didn't want any alternates, I wanted the basics. But it turned out your videos are actually the best ones about those basics.

Wonderfully done! Congrats! Being Greek I have some suggestions! We never use the combination for OY and ΣΤ! In fact, many Greeks might not even recognize these letters! Also, the letter Σ is never written as a C. You may find it in Byzantine scripts thought! The video was amazing! Love from Greece!

Thanks! I could have made it clearer that these forms are no longer used in handwriting, so thank you for clearing that up! I wanted to include them for anyone wanting to be able to read them in print (especially ΟΥ) or inscriptions and manuscripts.

It's "Cyrillic", not just Russian, you'd be leaving out Ukrainian and other alphabets (sure, some may have slight differences).

1:04 I just discovered digamma, an obsolete Greek letter I guess, but used in math still (I think?? or at least the word is). So you take Γ and "split it" with a bar (or rather, "double" the bar), and you essentially get the letter F, like Frank. I just found that fun.

Hi! I didn't study Greek myself, so I fall short on any tips regarding the language itself. Sorry! As to handwriting, I'd recommend asking someone native, and should that fail, you can always hunt Google images - you can try searching directly with Greek phrases, e.g. "γραφικός χαρακτήρας" should get you further than just "Greek handwriting".
