Thank you so much, a GREAT episode.. I have a question however that has nothing to do with this episode... is there a reason that in the transcripts you translate everything line by line? Before episode 40 there was a part text , several sentences, and then the translation. To me that seems a bit more logical and if people want print things it takes much less paper (which is better for the environment..)

Οι παροιμίες έχουν λαϊκή προέλευση, το οποίο σημαίνει ότι συχνά δεν μπορεί, ή είναι εξαιρετικά δύσκολο, να ιχνηλατηθεί η αρχή τους και πότε και από ποιους (ή και γιατί) πρωτοειπώθηκαν. Το ίδιο συμβαίνει και με τη δημοτική μουσική ή τα παραμύθια.

At 0:20 you say "για πες μας": I can't see why you put that "για" (=about?) before the verb, as I found some example where "για" is repeated, e.g. "για πες μας για την βροχή μετεωριτών". Could you say "πες μας" ("tell us", Italian "dicci") without "για"? What's the function of that "για" here? Thanks.

Για can be used |(and indeed is very commonly used) before imperatives as an invitation or incitation. It could be left out and the meaning wouldn't change completely, but it makes it more "colloquial", similar to how ρε is used (but to a lesser degree).

Κλαίω από τα γέλια με την παροιμία με την γριά! 😂 Δεν την είχα ξανακούσει. Επίσης, στην άλλη παροιμία συνήθως λέμε "κράτα με να σε κρατώ". Το "βαστάω" είναι κρητικό, έχει δίκιο ο Δημήτρης. 🙂Μπορώ να το επιβεβαιώσω, γιατί έχω καταγωγή από την Κρήτη.

It's for more advanced learners, yes. We have episodes for all levels! The common thread is that we speak natural, everyday Greek with subtitles. The subtitles are what makes our videos Easy, not the language! This is true for all Easy Languages videos
