Hello Alexia I've a wonder... Genetive case is the rule of pluralizing Greek words? or it's something like possessive adjectives to show the owning of something that belongs to someone? ✏To make my question more clear, what is the rule of pluralizing? I know these examples below ↓ Καφέ ➽ Καφές Παιδί ➽ Παιδιά !!
@greeklessonsonlinevideos
@greeklessonsonlinevideos 3 жыл бұрын
There will be a lesson about the plural soon! Genitive shows the owning of something!
@iggo45
@iggo45 3 жыл бұрын
Pluralizing of objects is making one object two or more. This is in Grammar the Singular (one) or Plural (many) Number. Παιδί Παιδιά in your example is just that. The number of children. On the other hand Cases are something different. Nominative is the case when we refer to the object directly: Ο ουρανός (ενικός) είναι γαλάζιος. The sky (singular) is blue Genitive is the case when we refer to an object belonging to something else. In this case our object is in nominative and the something else is in genitive form: Το σύννεφο (ενικός) του ουρανού. (ενικός). The cloud (singular) of the sky. (singular) There are another two cases, accusative and vocative. I believe in next lessons teacher is going to teach them. So the number of word (one or many) is not the same thing with the case of the word the frame or the status or what we are doing we the speakers to this word. Try this: Singular object "dog" in nominative genitive accusative vocative case O σκύλος είναι μαύρος The dog is black Το φαγητό του σκύλου Dog's food Φωνάζω τον σκύλο I call the dog Σκύλε έλα ! Dog come ! Plural objects "dogs" in nominative genitive accusative vocative case Oι σκύλοι είναι μαύροι The dogs are black Το φαγητό των σκύλων Dogs's food Φωνάζω τους σκύλους I call the dogs Σκύλοι ελάτε ! Dogs come ! Now this is an example with a masculine word σκύλος dog. Try your self to replace the masculine dog σκύλος 🐕 with the feminine cat γάτα 🐈 and the neutral bird πουλί 🐦 Come on ! How you say the cat is black ? 🤓🙃🙂☺️😊

I think I'm confusing myself between των and τους. I understand τους is accusative masculine plural but it's also used for possession. It seems like a weird mix of sometimes των and sometimes τους. For example: Το σπίτι μου - My house Να σου πω - Let me tell you These phrases clearly follow the genitive case. Το σπίτι τους - their house Θα τους πες; - Will you speak to them? (so here τους is taking on that to them/for them role. But then των is the genitive form but only seems to be used in the of role Τα πεδία των νεκρών - the fields of the dead Το φαγητό των σκύλων - the food of the dogs I don't get how to make this make sense?

Των is an article. It is genitive case used for possession in the plural. Το σπίτι των φίλων. Το βιβλίο των παιδιών. Τους is an article in accusative plural. Βλέπω τους φίλους. Αγαπάω τους ανθρώπους. Τους is also a personal pronoun. Τους βλέπω. Τους αγαπάω.

Yet another excellent class! Thank you much, Ms. Alexia! May I remind you that December 25th is the biggest Roman Catholic mass. Mass is not in the Bible, just as Purgatory is not in the Bible! It is an abomination before our Creator - God of the Bible who is the only true and living God. We must not celebrate that day in any way! - no cards, no decorations, no exchange of gifts! We must not say, "Merry .... !, " in view of what Lord Jesus suffered for His people, including the death on a cross!
