I watched this live or when it was aired, idk if it was live or not but I was OBSESSED with this show when it came out. Lin spoke of my family and my personal experiences like with Nina. He's an amazing songwriter who can speak of such a diverse Latin community in general without leaving anyone out, in my opinion, and that in itselt is amazing. I still get chills watching this performance and the look on his face when he won his first tony for his FIRST show. this video takes me back man. and look at him now. for those of us who have been aware of him since 2008 can recognize his musical style in Hamilton which is a bit similar in certain song arrangements when you compare it to In the Heights songs, and now he's famous all over the country and everyone knows his name, literally, finally. he deserves all his success.

this show is amazing! we saw it when my theater class went to NY for a week and out of the 4 shows we went to see, this was by far the best! itll definitely be a movie eventually. its awesome for anyone, even those who dont like show tunes, the rap makes it more interesting. sticks in your head XD the dancing is awesome, and had romance, heartache, and normal issues. LOVED IT!

Saw this performance when it originally aired, been in love with LMM's work ever since, but all these years, up until the movie was coming out, I never realized Vanessa is singing about a "studio" as in "apartment." (I'd never heard the rest of the opening song, which makes it clearer.) She sings so dramatically and so beautifully, and I didn't really know the context of her character, that I thought she meant she was going to find a studio, cut an album and get out of the barrio *that* way!
