The Metolius is one of those MUST VISITS if you ever get out west. On a blue sky day you can watch the start of the water come out of the side of a mountain and be spell bound 'till dark. Even IF it's not a blue sky day ... it's a memory of a lifetime! Someone above sure had a creative day making THIS river!

I lived in Basalt CO for a few years and would fish the FryingPan almost everyday. The greatest days were when the Green Drakes were hatching and the surface of the river was exploding with rises and you would catch a fish every cast. Amazing video here!

Thank you for the comment. I agree 100%. Love green drakes!

Between the beautiful surroundings and the wilyness of the fish there may not be a more satisfying place on earth to catch a trout. Great vid as always. Best in the Biz

I've just watched the video...the landscapes, the trout taking the fly (Wow!!!),... the harmonious casts in slow motion...the nice music... Once I learnt about the Stendhal Synndrome, when people is surrounded by tons of beauty. I think this might be close to It. A superb video, really. Congratulations.

Once again, magnificent work Todd. Seeing the prey from the trouts eye view is great too. It’s something we all need to be reminded of from time to time.

Metolius is such a beautiful river, hard to believe what starts out as a small trickle and balloons into a massive stream few miles downstream. Caught my one and only rainbow there few there few years ago, slipped on the riverbed while trying to reel it in, got fully wet, and lost the fish before I could fully appreciate its beauty. Can't wait to be back, after all this chaos ends.

Fished it twice. The first time I caught scenery. The second time had one hook-up and one 8 inch redside. According to a guy I talked to earlier, that was a good day. He had two hits and felt he had done well. Humility is plentiful on that river. Gorgeous country.

Something that always intrigues me is, a lot of North American fishing is done downstream, whereas in Australia we almost exclusively fish upstream, or cross current.
@straubdavid94 жыл бұрын
Depends on the fly you are using and the situation. Most of the flyfishers I know fish upstream YMMV. Take care from Pennsylvania USA.

Yes great video but… If you come please be respectful this is a fragile river in a fragile ecosystem. Also save yourself about three years worth of struggle and learning stop by the fly fishers place in sisters Oregon and ask for Jeff Perin he will get you dialed in on the right places to be

I miss your short videos with actual substance and documentation of characters & rivers, rather then the obviously set up chronicles and just the cinematic b rolls etc. shame the last few of your videos are like all like this. But again, okay cinematography, that's about it. Atb to you
