I don't know if anyone cares but I met an archaeologist which found lots of jadeite tools, many of them unfinished (jadeite is the more expensive jade compared to nephrite jade) in a specific location in northern Italy. The discovery was many years ago before jade went up 50 times in value. Now there are no specific details online regarding the location but I remember the place if anyone cares

That marbleized Jade sliced about an eighth of an inch thick quarter of an inch thick then made into a lamp with an LED light behind would be a beautiful mantelpiece.... I always dreamed of being able to do what you get to do when I retired butter motorcycle accident took my haking days away... I was putting everything together that I would head down Kentucky and Virginia in Georgia those areas and using gemstone honey and play around making things out of gemstones but then the accident happened.... So I just figure guys got other plans for me... I've been on the men for 5 years now and the doctor say I got quite a ways to go yet that's okay I got plenty of time keep having fun kiddo enjoy it to its fullest God has blessed you with a mighty mighty fine find. . I just picked up the hobby of rockhounding. I enjoy it enough that I almost couldn’t climb back up the hill I came down I had so many rocks on me. Unfortunately, my brain isn’t designed for it. I have watched hundreds of videos and I still can’t be certain of one single rock I have, haha. As soon as I think it’s one thing, I see a video where it looks just like something else. I never was very good at chemistry ...

Do you have an idea of the extent and duration of this operation to mine and haul this jade off your claim? I'm a young general contractor in Utah. If there was ever an opportunity for employment on your claim I would be interested. Money isn't a huge deal for me anymore. I would just love to work with you and learn from you :)
@USMiner7 жыл бұрын
I think I have all the people and equipment I'll need lined up already but I will keep you in mind. It probably won't start until next summer or fall, depending how quickly Wyoming is with permits. I ran a small placer mine in Arizona and it was quick, but up here there are additional levels of permitting. The ultimate determining factor will be if I can find a market, I will only mine small scale for collector type material if I can't find a bulk market, and that would all be single man.

@USMiner6 жыл бұрын
First thing I would try is a hardness test, if it scratches with an iron nail then its not jade. Then streak test, rub it across the back side (rough, with no finish or glaze) of a ceramic tile or toilet lid and if it leaves a streak of any color then its not jade. Sandpaper may also work to turn it to powder, the powder of jade will be pure white and no other color. If it passes those tests then it may be worth looking at further.

What does a discovery marker do? Is it like a claim marker?
@USMiner5 жыл бұрын
It's required by law to mark the original point of discovery for a future mineral claim. It's where the papers are located when you first stake your claim, and is the first "stake" you put into the ground to mark it as valid claim.

Congrats! What a great find. I was curious, have you ever heard of people taking the "rubble" and tumbling it to polish? Basically for a nice fish tank gravel or for a terrarium. Or to fill a clear cylinder and lit from within?
@USMiner7 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is a man who does this with the blasting debris from his claim here, tumbles small pieces and sells it by the pound. Except he sells it for like $50-$150/lb, so it's be some pretty expensive aquarium gravel! I found an old millsite with a giant handbuilt tumbler still sitting there too, so they were doing something similar back in the 50's or 60's too. The clear cylinder is an interesting idea, I've been trying to figure out how to light this stuff up, the colors are so much more vivid in sunlight or under a flashlight.

How much does jade run?out of curiosity, is it only found in Wyoming, possibly Montana where I'm from
@USMiner7 жыл бұрын
My understanding is anywhere from $2 to $200 lb for low to medium quality nephrite, then gem quality nephrite is sold by the carat or gram and is much more (and jadeite can be worth much more than this). Mine is probably running $2 to $20/lb on average. But when dealing with 10's of thousands of lbs it adds up. It is found in many locations globally, but I'm not sure if there are any established deposits in Montana.

I appreciate the input. I'm an avid gemstone hunter in Montana and enjoy videos of places near me where I can find some good stuff. Wow, congratulations!! Thats so exciting! Can you believe it? I bet it was hard to realize it was true, and real!! Yahooo! I hope you do great things with the 💰, but keep on the hunt and continue to teach! Maybe you can do classes? Not sure if you have kids but even doing some classes or camps for kids interested in science, outdoors, detective work, and also enjoy the thrill of potentially find not only beautiful earth but also something worth some good money!! My 8 yr old son was very excited to look for gold and gems with me. Always when we camp or i have a mothers day i have been so interested in hunting the rocks and gems more seriously this year. But, because i still never know for sure what i have, his enthusiasm has died waaay down. To me, they all kind of look very similar. I even have id books too lol. So i think love interactive classes is a great way to learn...and FUN! I know you would do amazing with adults and kids alike. And we all, especially young developing kids, need more reasons to be outside and appreciate it...as the outdoors is our real world. And far more beautiful in person than on screen.;) Thanks for doing all of these great videos. I have enjoyed learning from them. You are a really good teacher:). And finally, it was nice to get a lot of different pieces on camera of how jade can look lol, and also what one might “think” is jade, but isn’t - and why. Knowing the stuff that is same colors etc, yet not what we are seeking, i find so incredibly helpful!! Now i am excited to go back through the 1000s of rocks i have collected, yet have no idea if any of it is REALLy jade, or gold, or anything of value beyond the pleasure it gives me looking for pretty rocks that can be turned into something nice or useful.:) Congrats again! And hope you decide to continue doing the videos! ;)
@USMiner7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, quite an in depth comment! I'm really a pretty bad teacher though. The wonder of videos is that I can edit out all of my rambling and pauses and ums and ahs into a coherant thought. I'm very scatter-brained. :) I don't have kids, but if my vids help anyone then that's cool, I was teaching myself this stuff when I was a kid (pre-internet days), wishing I knew someone else into rocks. Now with the internet it's nice because we can go to a place like this and see other people talking about things we are all curious about and not feel so alone, I like to contribute to that. I'm not particularly family friendly though because I tend to curse a lot! Good luck, I hope one of the 1000's of samples turns out to be special, they all are in their own way when you find them together, I know the memories I have of my mom taking me out to look for rocks/arrowheads are among the best of my life and we still have much that we found from those days.

@clubjrgaming26107 жыл бұрын
Hallo USMiner well well, i can only say this, i´m sitting in Denmark and have this idea of going to learn how to prospect after gold, not in Denmark but in the USA if i may do so, have seen tons of videos at this point,read about lots of where to look or what too look for ect.... then came across you, after some hour looking at you and what you could not do, and now have turn it into an hobby stat, and then you found a claim,with this in it... wow, hope everything goes right for you :), well i really feel you was the one to find that site, yes the Chinese is blowing this rock into more value than most other rocks, just damn luck you are in time for the uprising of that marked.....you can alway go there and bring samples, and make sure you got a good contact in China, then it rolls from there....just make sure you have really good sample along ....then you can mine the moon next after this event...best of luck , gonna look forward too see what it brings .... what it does to you in life. :) Best Regards Jess DK...last thing, keep Smiling ...
@USMiner7 жыл бұрын
If I could get to the moon I would mine it, we need new frontiers! New places to explore. Asteroids, Mars, I would go. Good luck with prospecting, you can come here and prospect, I've met a lot of people from other countries out in the field. Australia is good too.

A newbie question. Are claims staked on public land, private land, or both?
@USMiner7 жыл бұрын
Usually federal but can be staked on private if the minerals are public and not withdrawn.
@jimv.6617 жыл бұрын
I guess this is what confuses me. What determines if it is public or not withdrawn.For instance. I have a very small property is SE CO and in the deed, the minerals are deeded 50% to the seller back in the 70's. Would that mean that I have rights to the other 50%, or is there something else I should be doing to protect it. And if I don't have rights to that 50%, can someone just walk in and claim it?
@USMiner7 жыл бұрын
This is a question for a title company or an attorney, you will need to trace the chain of ownership.
@jimv.6617 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I was just wondering if someone could walk onto my property and make a claim. I'll have to ask a title company or attorney in the area. I have large veins of quartz running thru the property, and there is a full blown mine down the hill a couple of miles.
@USMiner7 жыл бұрын
No, they cannot trespass, the surface is segregated from the mineral estate. If the minerals were public and locatable, they would still need to comply with the BLM code (I forget the number) which dictates the procedure to follow when making a claim on private surface and it starts with a letter to the surface owner to notify you and request permission to enter for some period of time. You would have to look it up or consult an attorney for more details regarding that.

I have to be honest, after watching your videos, I am trying to find out where u are! Damn, those are fat nuggets!! People don’t realize, these things take time. No one sees the pain. They only see your finds. Message me at elitebassangler@aol.com. I’ll give u much more info about my nephrite and send pics of some bitchin water-worn pieces. I also recently located a jade vein in gneiss on the mine. Like u said in another video a lot of the slate and schist type rock (I’m not an expert) has gone jaded. Bitchin shit. It absolutely helps get the mind off the gold fever! Come over to my mine and I’ll put u on some veins and placer jade. Great crystallized gold and amazing crystals here dude...and let’s spend the time it takes to get the nuggets out. I lost all my detectors in the detwiler fire last year so I’m working a scorpion gold stinger. Sucks on hot rocks and need to get a minelab, hopefully by the end of the year. Anyways, be sure to email me. I want to ask u a couple questions!!!!

Congratulations on your find. I know how rough that terrain can be. I was born and raised in Idaho in Nampa. I spent many years exploring the high desert. Also up in the mountains great fun. Thank you for puting together another wonderful video. 💜😉☕🍩 Ms Michal

Poor man actually believes he has quality Jade. Anyone with a geology background can identity other minerals mixed into those boulders. Entertaining none the less...

at $14.00-$18.00 a kg, he does have something regardless of your interpretation, considering there's thousands of pounds worth there.

I wouldn't read the old timer's names. It gives people a way to trace your location. Crooks are smart.

I think I know where you are. I won't give away the location of the better vein as when the Chinese have to start outsourcing for their most sacred mineral the price will explode. I can give you the local of that opal deposit and a few potential diamond, peridot, garnet deposits as well as a few others if you have an email we can chat as long as you keep the locations to yourself. I have quite a bit of knowledge on gem and precious metals locations all throuout Wyoming.

Yeah, I'm hoping eventually I can find a bulk market to China. Even at $10/lb, some of those boulders are $10,000 each. It's real hard to judge quality without a big saw though. I know where all the main opal deposits are, I've explored there a bit 15 years ago, it goes on for many many miles, you can find common white opal scattered around outside that area too. I never found any fire the few times I went out though so I concentrated on other stuff. If you know of diamond or peridot near there, then you know something I don't. The one peridot intrusive I investigated I think may have been miscategorized, but maybe I'm wrong.

If you haven't already, you might want to gold prospect the area where Strawberry Creek meets up with the Sweetwater River in the Lewistown district as it appears that strawberry Creek sits on a fault line. The ore from around the Burr Mine and the Hidden Hand mine. The hidden hand is patented so that's off limits but the burr and the hidden hand appear to sit along the same fault line and should have plentiful gold in between. The Burr assayed 1600+ opt in some of the lenses. I have some beautiful looking ore from some of the mine dumps in the area.
