If one reads "Justice League of America" #73-74 where Larry Lance is killed and then the next several issues as the Dinah & Ollie relationship is developed, the whole thing becomes weird, and perhaps even a little creepy. You see, in JLA #74, as the JLA and the Aquarius-controlled-JSA are fighting Green Arrow traps Dinah is a bunch of goop from his "stickum shaft" (pg. 12, panel 2 may qualify as "cursed"). This means Dinah can't dodge Aquaruis' big magic blast, so Larry throws himself in the path of the blast, sacrificing himself. Which means, Oliver helped create the situation where Larry died. Which makes Dinah hooking up with him a little "sus". Frankly, I think Denny O'Neil was using Oliver as an author avatar.

This was a fun story and a good way to wrap up the SSSV with the cancellation of their own title, but it would've been nice to have Captain Comet involved, since he was their established heroic nemesis. As usual Dick Dillin did a spectacular job on the art. He remains one of the most underrated artists of all time. His work on the JLA was always top notch. The unsanctioned stasis cells or casual option of marooning the villains in time make Alan Moore's assertion that superheroes are fascist understandable though.

As I recall, when BC first joined the JLA, there was a brief flirtation with Batman, other than that there seemed to be an editorial mandate to have her have some sort of dalliance with one of the JLA guys. Worth noting: At this point in DC history, the Black Canary who was in the Justice League of America was still canonically the same Black Canary who had been in the Justice Society of America going back to the 1940s! So this Black Canary would have canonically had to have been well into her 50s. This does offer an explanation for the Reverse Flash's actions: He had a serious thing for hot MILFs. 😉
