The "green screen" here is not a visual aid for vfx but a background loop, upon which I add extra layers, and try out different ideas. It's a long listen I realise, but the process of making it was really, really enjoyable. The meditative "flow" state we can sometimes achieve with music is just exquisite, precious.
As always, thanks to everyone supporting my work at WRKSHP. You make it possible for me to take time to make these videos. If you'd like to learn how to use Ableton Push, check out the Push Bible, on wrkshp.thinkif...

My theory is that Andri is a time traveller. He comes from a future where man tamed the machine, made it an extension of his hands, and bends it to the will of his creativity. We are lucky he decided to bless us with his music during his stay.

I’m so glad you’re back to making these vids. I love them all! If I want to learn how to make something like this are your workshop courses sufficient or does this require extra software/knowledge? Thanks!!

Thank you so much Jason! So, to answer your question, I would broadly say yes. The Push Bible (beginner and intermediate bundle) goes over all of the relevant aspects, considerations and skills that I use to do what I do here. These performances involve balancing a few things; different playing techniques, note modes, scales, cpu management and sound selection, which are all things which are discussed or touched upon in the courses mentioned above. A lot of what I do in this video can be done with Live 10 Intro, which comes with Push when you buy it. Now, that all being said, I think I can go deeper and further in helping people get into the kind of flow I manage to find in these videos, and I’m working on this as we speak, but this will build on what’s in the existing courses, which act as a foundation for everything else that will follow. Something like the New Testament, if you’ll forgive me 😀

Man this is my favorite out of the performances so far. Everything just fits into the mix so nicely and the texture is so alive and breathing. This is 100% Ableton instruments and effects, yeah? I'm starting to feel like I wouldn't need anything besides Suite (running Intro right now). I like to keep the software clutter to a minimum and Ableton's devices work so seamlessly with Push that I don't see a need for any other plugins (besides my Fabfilter stuff 😎).

Thank you much! 🙃 This is indeed 100% Ableton Live devices, and in fact the vast majority of it could be done with just Live Intro or Standard. Keeping things focussed and minimal have helped me a lot. The recent additions to the family of instruments and effects in Live 10 and 11 give us a lot to play with. A related and useful big boost (for me) is having fast and relieve Apple silicon machines available to me to run this all on. If you like Live as a tool, then I would encourage you or anyone else to invest in getting the most out of it. Same goes for Push.

so dope! do you have any video tutorials of your custom push setup? im about to build a new push template and would love to see your individual channel setup. do you use clyphxpro at all?

@Andy slate - I do! Just launched! - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pp20anljZbegetk Let me know if you have any questions! re clyphx: I've only dipped into clyphxpro briefly, and quickly felt I'd rather build with Ableton-native devices and setups, as these will be more stable and support won't be a question in the future. I have heard good things however!

hey andri, great performance 👏! what instruments are you playing here? is it sample based or is it an ableton synth? it sounds phantastic!

Thank you! These are all instruments I’ve designed myself using operator, wavetable and others, and then sampled them to keep things low-cpu.

@@synthusiast2911 ah the discovery never ends! I do love the idea of focussed discovery though; of using just a few tools and getting to know them well. This can help so much to achieve focus and flow, and to actually enjoy music making.
