I drink green tea since I was thirteen years old and with almost 30 don't look a day over 20. Really love the pure green tea, just discovered the benefits much after, and after a really bad bone cancer, with devastating results. Anyway, great video.

Hi🙋🏻♀️ I have found your video extremely helpful and you are wonderful. I have one question to ask. Is it normal if a product that contains green tea has brown colour? I have been using a niacinamide serum which has green tea but it has this brown tint to it. The serum does not contain any artificial colour. So can it be that the green tea extract is getting oxidised in this formula? EGCG can be unstable in high concentration as I read. If you can shed some light on this then it would be a great help. 🙋🏻♀️🌻
@DrBaileySkinCare4 жыл бұрын
It is hard to know if the brown is due to oxidation or concentration of the green tea. My Green Tea Antiox Skin Therapy is slightly tan due to the color of the green tea fraction.

Hello Shella, Thanks for watching and for you kind words! The product I've used for years is this one www.drbaileyskincare.com/green-tea-skin-therapy-cream Another is Replenix CF Cream, which I have also used in my practice. There are probably others but I'm not aware of them. These two products are made in a pharmaceutical facility that has concentrated the ECGCs. The buttocks study was done with a 2 or 3% lotion of ECGCs.

Hello Faiyzah, I particularly like the Green Tea for dry facial skin, especially sensitive skin. That said, no one can guarantee response to a given product for a specific person. In my practice, the combo is a perfect fit most of the time.

Thank you ! Do you think spraying some really concentrated green tea infusion (from green tea bags) may be effective to get these antioxydant and anti-inflammatory benefits of green tea for the skin ? (2 bags for 30ml of cold water, infused during the night and kept frozen next for some weeks, just slightly defrosted with warm water in the morning to get some, put on my face, and freeze it again, etc ... until I don't have any and do it again) (I do that, because "in theory", because maybe, but I don't really know if it's effective, actually 😅)

Hi Dr. Bailey, I'm wondering if I can use fresh brewed (and cooled) tea directly on the skin as a toner? If I brew it a few hours before use and it's still fresh, can I use it this way instead of purchasing a cream?
@DrBaileySkinCare6 жыл бұрын
Possibly. It will not be nearly as potent but I did have a patient do it once and it was enough for her. She had some facial inflammation from rosacea and felt it was helpful. My green tea cream has the equivalent of 500 cups of ECGC polyphenol antioxidants in pharmaceutical stable form per ounce of cream. It is much different. That said, who knows how much one needs for their skin and a green tea toner or mask on a tepid towel might be nice. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Dr. Bailey - Does green tea work effectively on all types of acne? I use it in my routine but would it also work for my teen with acne? Thank you!
@DrBaileySkinCare6 жыл бұрын
I use it with all types of acne, including teen acne. I want to point out that Green Tea Antiox Therapy has a very tiny amount of sunflower oil, and some acne teens with oily skin are really worried about using oils on their skin. We now look at comedogenic ingredients much differently. I wrote about it here www.drbaileyskincare.com/info/dermatologists-advice/skin-care-tips/what-are-comedogenic-ingredients Unfortunately, the worries about oils, pores and acne persist and I have to respect people's anxiety over the long held wisdom that guided us for years regarding oils, comedogenicity and acne. Acne is such an emotionally difficult skin problem for teens. So, just fyi, not knowing how your teen feels I just want to honor that concern should it be relevant. Thanks for watching!

Great information! You mentioned background skin that is red.....what exactly is that? Thank you for these great videos.
@DrBaileySkinCare6 жыл бұрын
Ruddy redness as a general background to seborrhea, rosacea, demodex overgrowth, and sun damage. When examined with magnification the skin appears redder than normal and generally inflamed. It is different than with a specific rash like an allergic topical reaction or irritation that is transient. The inflammation is more diffuse, barrier also often weakened. Background complexion type is just not calm. The trick is turning it around.

Can you add sugar to your green tea while drinking since it taste better?
@DrBaileySkinCare6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will increase the glycemic index and that fuels inflammation - thus moderation is key. I add agave instead and that sweetens it with less increase in the glycemic load. I add a little cinnamon too - have a cup right here as I type. Thanks for watching!

Have you ever treated lichen planopilaris? I was diagnosed last year and have had hair loss only around the hairline. It has been a emotional time for me. I also have developed rosacea. I'm constantly looking for soothing skin care. I use Cerave. Do you a have any advice for lichen planopilaris?
@DrBaileySkinCare6 жыл бұрын
Hello Terry, thank you for watching. Yes I have, and yes it is really frustrating. Every case of LPP is unique. We don't know the cause. My personal observation is that sun damage may play a role since it appears on the crown of the scalp where sun damage occurs. I often see it when evidence of sun damage predates the LPP. One simple recommendation I always give my patients with LPP is to keep the sun off their scalp by learning to wear hats when outdoors. We also use anti-seborrhea shampoos and prescription topical cortisone. Beyond that, the treatment is complex and, at times a success, at others a frustration. Here is a nice update from NIH rarediseases.info.nih.gov/diseases/3247/lichen-planopilaris LPP is definitely a condition to be supervised by a dermatologist that is into trying hard to help. Best wishes. Thank you for finding my channel.

Hi Dr. Bailey, I'm 65 and have been drinking 2-3 mugs of green tea every morning for 10 years. My thyroid is normal, but I have been suffering from severe dry skin on my calves to the point of having an infection spot. You mentioned that green tea reduces the amount of sebum produced. I was wondering if green tea could conceivably be causing or exacerbating this condition? Many thanks.
@DrBaileySkinCare6 жыл бұрын
Hello Joy, sorry to miss your question, hmm, thought I answered it and wonder if I hit cancel instead of reply. I am so sorry. Oil glands are not generously distributed on the lower legs or arms. These areas are also the first sites to show dryness, and they commonly do. Green tea is not going to have a huge impact on skin here. Read my dry skin care tips on my Advice Pages www.drbaileyskincare.com/info/dermatologists-advice/skin-care-tips/dry-skin-care-tips Eczema and dry skin of the lower legs is common (asteatotic and nummular eczema). We need to moisturize these dryness prone areas of skin after every shower after a certain age. I hope my advice info helps. Thanks for watching and sending me your question. I am so sorry that my ansser did not seem to post!

@DrBaileySkinCare6 жыл бұрын
Rashes from green tea are unusual and I wonder what else might be in the tea. Is it a blend with mint or some other ingredient that might cause the problem? Are you brewing it? The product I use in my practice is a pharmaceutical extraction and concentration of only one antioxidant fraction. That fraction is not a contact allergen nor an irritant. There are ingredients in the skin care formulation that are different than the antioxidant fraction. For the most part, they too are hypoallergenic. I hope that helps!
