Snowskin (雪皮 xuepi /shwair-pee/) mooncakes are NON-BAKED mooncakes, believed to have originated from Hong Kong but is now enjoyed by the Chinese throughout the world. It gets its name as the crust is made of frozen glutinous rice flour and looks somewhat like snow white. It tastes best when chilled. As tea and mooncakes are among some of the most traditional foods for the Chinese, blending the two items can create a new and popular variety for the otherwise, traditional mooncakes. Furthermore, with the taste of the refreshing green tea, the usually oily and rich taste of mooncake is well balanced.
Mooncakes are often offered between friends and family members while celebrating the mid-autumn festival. Snowskin or custard green tea mooncake recipe is an easy mooncake recipe and its also one of the most popular modern flavours. These green tea mooncakes made with snowskin stays soft for about a week of storage in the refrigerator.

+Kann Mon It really depends on the size of mould you use. For my mould size of 60g, I made 12 pieces of mooncakes.

As a general rule, you can but I have not tried. Use the same amount as you will for shortening and let me know how it is. Thanks

+Kelly Cocchia Hi, I use store bought cooked glutinous rice flour ( Gao Fun) as its readily available in my country. I have never cook it myself. To cook it, you need to sift the flour and steam over high heat until its cooked, resift and store in container when completely cooled. Best to cling wrap the steamer tray to prevent water droplets. However, its best to buy the cooked flour if able. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Jenny Wong We only need the salted egg yolks. If you can remove the egg whites leaving the yolk in whole, then should be fine as we will be steaming the salted egg yolks anyway. Otherwise, not encouraged. It's better to buy the uncooked duck salted eggs. Hope this helps. Thanks. Glad you enjoy watching our channel.

Hi. Before you steam the salted egg, you rolled it into balls first right? So, is it already in solid state if it is uncooked? I thought uncooked salted egg is in liquid like a normal one.

+Ladolce Lamour you only need to break the salted egg to separate the yolk from the white. The egg yolk is already in solid form unlike the normal egg. Then steam the salted egg yolk. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

+pinkyeez Store them in airtight containers and chill in refrigerator to get the best of these mooncakes for up to a week. They can be stored in freezer for up to a few weeks. Before serving, just transfer them to fridge for a few hours till they become soften a bit and Enjoy! Thanks for viewing.

+MintyMiku Try not to put too much. Otherwise you wont be able to taste the green tea paste as you need to reduce the paste if u put more melon seed. Or your mould wont fit. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

+frazzled pots75 you can buy them in most chinese grocery stores. You buy the salted duck eggs. Separate the yolks from the whites and then steamed the yolks. Thanks.

Your receipt's mould of 60g but u said 30g snow skin, 40g fillings. Total 70g. How to use 60g mould? Not fix the size!
