🔷 ABOUT US 🔷
We're a DIY family building our "forever homestead" from 15 acres of raw undeveloped land in Tennessee. All of our content is family friendly and safe for everyone to enjoy.
In today's video we are working in our laundry room of our 1988 Palm Harbor 14 x 70 single wide mobile home. We finish replacing the last bit of old subfloor in our home with 3/4" plywood.

Must feel good to get rid of all that particleboard. We've replaced all of the subfloor in the kitchen, bathrooms, by front door, and any soft spots in the single wide we bought to remodel. It's not an easy undertaking by any means and especially with lumber costs right now. By the time you guys get done you will pretty much have a new house that should last for many years to come. Great job! 👏👏

I could almost feel the frustration around 11m as the plywood just kept bouncing back, not wanting to go under the wall at all. Way to persevere! Congrats on having replaced all of the old subfloor.

Sam, that is a left handed cordless circular saw you are using in your right hand. Left handed saws have the blade on the left and right handed on the right. The blade should always be away from the body so in case the saw kicks back it is less likely to take a cut to the main mid section of your body. Cordless saw designers apparently didn't take this into account and if you're injured by one that might all change if one goes after them in a lawsuit.

Especially when you put sunglasses on and also when the video shows the back of your head and shoulders. I know because I could almost say....oh my goodness that's my oldest son.....They always say you got a twin somewhere that isn't even related to you....well I know myself you have one lol I truly kid you not.😳 He also is a hard worker and a family man just as you are👍👍👍

You two make a great team. I am excited for you. Cannot wait to see it completed. I believe in using stuff until you can no longer, get every dime spent on it out of it and fix and repair until you cannot. We have had to buy a dish washier today. My other one is at least 20 yrs old. Its white. The handle finally broke, and we have it working but its jury rigged. Also just started shutting off once in a while before that and we have to restart it. Husband can fix just about anything. He says its time. We cannot order the door no longer make it. It was a whirlpool been a good one. He has repaired the dryer we have many times. Its older than the dish washier. Washier too and he has replaced parts on it too. Also, helps save our landfills. We will scrap what we can on her. No money but it is the right thing to do.

Hi. Don't forget to put the drip pan under the washer, it will save your new floor . If you have a front load washer, the door gasket "will" leak. Great show. Thanks

Great advice but the funny thing is that all of my washers have been front loaders (as in Europe front loaders are the norm) and I have been married for 44 years and never had a door gasket leak, not even once. I have had the water hose and water pump leak, so a drip pan is still needed. Thanks for posting

If you put a closet bar higher than normal and then put one lower than normal you have twice the hanging space. Or you can just put in one higher than normal and build drawers under it. Whatever you do it'll be great I'm sure.

Please be in prayer for Gaylord Michigan! Friday, May 20th, 2022 an EF3 tornado ripped through the bissness section of town, a trailer park and private homes. 2 deaths, over 50 injured and many left homeless and businesses destroyed. Only 1 wall of Hobby Lobby is still standing, a camper/rv lot looks like twisted metal. My home church is there, thankfully it wasn't hit. Over half of the church campus is being used to home the homeless from this and provide things they need!! God is pouring out His love through volunteers bringing food and supplies, but much more is needed. It's very unusual for a tornado that far up in the Northern Lower Peninsula!! Gaylord EFree church is the church.

A nickels worth of free unsolicited advice. Put a 36 inch door in instead of the open 48 inch opening. With the boys, I'm sure you do tons of laundry. Close the door whenever doing laundry to isolate the heat and humidity generated from washing/drying from the rest of the home. In the climate that you now live in you will need all the help you can get to keep it cool during the warmer months. There's my nickels worth. lol

wat you mightve been anble to do is screw a beam across the inside of the wall studs passed the opening in the floor and toward where the floor is solid , then either screw legs to that crossbeam to hold the wall up to the original height or maibe use two hydraulic jacs to rase the whoe thing a few mm (sorry european here) so you could slide the new flooring under there without hammering and drop the wall back on it , them remove the beam and keep on going

A little suggestion for anyone else doing this. Cut your self some 1 inch tall by 6 in long tapered wedges and drive them under the bottom plate directly under each stud about 1/4 inch past the bottom plate after you have removed the original floor. This will give you some wiggle room to get you plywood floor started going under the bottom plate. There will be less weight and friction on the plywood. The wedges will drive out easily by the plywood passing under the bottom plate allowing the bottom plate and wall to re-settle on the new plywood flooring
