🔷 ABOUT US 🔷
We're a DIY family building our "forever homestead" from 15 acres of raw undeveloped land in Tennessee. All of our content is family friendly and safe for everyone to enjoy.
In today's video we test out the most popular drywall bits for setting screws and hanging drywall. We test the Bosch D60498 Drywall Dimpler, Dewalt DW2014C4 Drywall Screw Setter, and the Montana Brand MB-64867 19 Piece 2-In-1 Drywall Screw Setter Set. We put the drywall tools to the test to find the best drywall bit setter! We also hang all the drywall in our new kitchen pantry, laundry room, and master bedroom closet. Let's go!

Back in the mid 90's my mom had some remodeling done, when the workers left there was a 5 gallon bucket of 2x4 cut offs. My mom said to put them in the garage. Well i put them in the spare bedroom with the grandkids toys. Those blocks got more use in the past 25 years than you can imagine. Great grandkids are playing with them now.

I am always impressed by your “feral” children … they seem to be healthy happy imaginative boys who entertain themselves and actually PLAY outside like kids are supposed to be doing. Elijah is so helpful and mature for his age … and Isaac, well, that child comes across as a sweet and lovable ball of energy. Well done, Sam and Angela … for raising great kids. I watch all your videos, loved what you’re doing. 👍

I think leaving the door off is a great idea and people organize pantries and make them look really nice. A curtain is a great idea. I think it would be cute and you could put a tie back so you could pull the curtain back behind it. I hate when doors and drawers overlap and you are sure to have them bang into each other. Great video.

Angela I was thinking of your kitchen pantry you could make it a feature. Use storage containers that you get from IKEA,Walmart and Amazon. Go and look at Hannah’s happy home as a storage idea in her pantry. Maybe stain the shelves a walnut colour. Marina from Fearfully CREATED has created a open pantry in her mobile home. Your home is coming along really nicely.

Good job guys, I wish we had the funding to put drywall in the old mobile home we are doing. Instead we filled in the cracks in the paneling and figured out how to repair old discontinued ceiling tiles. It looks amazing but man has it soaked up the paint but we saved thousands and on old people fixed incomes it is what we could do. Now onto the outside and buttoning it up before the snakes crawl. What amazing changes you folks have made. Keep the tips coming, we learn from you. May God continue to bless your family and keep you healthy. We will keep watching :)

That was a great tip alas it was not so good for Sam, but people always like a good tool shout out. It all depends on what you have used before and what you expect the tool to do as to how the tool seems to perform. Its like your paint stick and your drill mixer, you expect the drill mixer to be better, alas it was not. What you expect and what you get can be totally DIYfferent :-)

I was a union carpenter for 34 yrs , worked in home construction doing finish work for close to 4 yrs before moving to commercial work . I last hung board at student dorm projects at a college . We hung all 5/8 fire code board mostly 10’ sheets . My coworker and I would go into an apartment and start hanging . He wanted to do all the screwing , I was the cut guy . I did all the measuring , curing , cut boxes , carried sheets etc . He only screwed sheets . We had only so much time to have one apartment completed before the tapers were scheduled to move in . So ya had to move fast . We used auto feed screw guns by hilti on this project . My tools , a knife , tape , zip tool , dry wall square drywall rasp and a 2’ level for plumbing first sheets . My buddy of course had a auto feed screw gun . The old school method of screwing sheets of course is the single screw hand fed screw gun is what guys used to use . Companies now supply the auto feed guns because they are way faster for production. We had a crew that went in and ran all the hat track and hung all the ceiling before the walls were done . There were 4 phases to this project . Very large project of college dorms . Been watching you doing your home . We stood all sheets up , did not lay any down . All ceilings were 10 ft high . Tapers don’t like butt joints much . Started watching your home move and inside work . I redid my sons home inside . Stood all sheets from front to back . Taped it all and painted it . Went fast , no one was living in it yet . Good luck .

Sam and Angela youve been so busy. Great team work. A pantry doesnt have to be ugly. There are great ideas with baskets, glass jars, Sam could make some crates, etc. I saw the cutest jars today by Jody at Southern Seasons. A little paint, jute, lace, buttons, ribbons to decorate. Try thrifting for containers. Wouldnt it be nice if your family could meet Doug and Ashleys family someday. You could take the camper. And its florida maybe Disney or Universal. Love you guys.

Everything is looking great! If it's not too late... when you're mudding the joints, the easy way to do the top where it meets your textured ceiling is not to mud it at all, use some good paintable caulk to fill it and use your finger to contour it to the ceiling texture. It's quicker, easier, and gives a better finish than trying to do mud and sand it up against the texture

Don't forget you can use monitors two way monitors between the boy's room and yours. As my dad got on in years he was in a different part of their home due to his hospital bed. But my parents could communicate with one another easily without my mother having to get up every time. Just a thought. With insulation it helps with maintaining temperature and contains noise.

Have you considered curtains for the pantry & drapes for bedroom closet doors? It’s humid in Hawaii so we didn’t want closed up spaces. Hung curtains on a tension rod inside the door jam. Didn’t make them floor to ceiling and used baskets to hide the junks on the floor. I really like your shallow pantry…won’t loose food items in the back. 😃

My boyfriend has to sleep with a box fan running. I told him how are we suppose to hear if someone breaks in the house or if the security camera’s go off with that fan going. Don’t get me wrong, after 3 years I’m use to the fan now but every night I was think about that. I love you guys and I have been watching your channel for so long that I can’t remember how long lol. Our channel is BnB Homestead, anyhow, you are my favorite channel!!!!! Thank you for all you do and share with us, I feel like a part of your family and I’m grateful for that. Please be safe and keep the awesome video’s coming.

I enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for the honest product review. Sometimes what you already have is just as good or better than the new gadget. I applaud you on giving a finders reward to the boys! I love the bloopers!

It would be ideal to have the bi-fold open from left to right but how about finding one that opens right to left, which will be out of the way of the door opening? I think the bi-fold would be a sturdy option. The closet/pantry came out really nice. I do not think drywall is anyone's favorite! Don't fret on which project you will video next we will watch anyway! It really nice to see the progress of creating a space you are happy and comfortable with. You can just see the spark in the kids when ask them questions about their activities. Great Job!

You 2 knocked it out of the park doing drywall. Good job. As the doors go, I agree with Angela wait till you move in. Also I've seen where some have hung curtains for doors. Remember back in the day, when the kitchen sinks were on petals? they use to hang curtains under the sink so they could store things under the sink. Gee, hope I didn't just date myself! LOL

Years ago, we signed up for a power company, 6 month experiment in which the cost for power differed by time of day, week days versus week ends. 12M-5AM was significantly cheaper and we shared responsibility for turning things on at 12M; dish washer, dryer, washing machine, and so on; Friday night we all took a nap and at 12M, the oven was turned on for hopefully a full week's worth of baking. The experiment ended early at 4 months 'cause they realized if they did region wide, they wouldn't sell enough electricity at regular rates to cover thier costs. When it ended, sleeping at night in the quiet took some adjusting.

You did it. You made watching drywalling interesting and fun. You both did a wonderful job. The tool that cut the openings out was very cool. I would vote for finishing it up for the next video up to and including painting. Then you are really done. In the pantry is there some kind of door that would pull up. I was thinking of a tambour door like the ones on roll top desks. Sam, maybe you could build it on your other channel. You could do it after the home has been approved for occupancy. Maybe in the winter. Just a thought. Bless you all.

Been watching this channel for a good while, Me and my girlfriend are actually rebuilding and remodeling our own mobile home that we bought almost 3 months ago, it's a 1971 Windsor single wide, 60ft long 12ft wide, we only gave 4,500$ for the house, and it was in questionable shape, and it's just the 2 of us living there alone, no kids, so it's more than big enough for our needs, we actually been watching this channel to help figure out how to fix our own mobile home 💯 and I have my own KZbin channel with my own series with our own mobile home rebuild it's pretty cool.

My 36 inch closet has bi fold doors. Two 18 inch. Each door has two 9 inch panels, so they only come out about 8 inches. The upper track is set in about an inch.

The space looks great! A nice curtain in the pantry would be good. Get a cute pattern and make matching curtains for the back door window and kitchen window :)

You should always mount your drywall half an inch to 3/4 of an inch above the floor that protects it from any water that spilled on the floor keep you from having to replace a whole bunch of drywall.

I understand if you may feel like you would be pushy (or something). So happy for your progress. I enjoy your channel so much! I do hope you guy's get to rest sometimes. God Bless
