He was always fixing things around the home, yep. Though not by choice as most of my things are. :) I was one to always be ready to go and help do something. I have lots of memories growing up around helping him do things. One of the coolest was him "letting" me finish in the basement into a living space with new bathroom, kitchenette and bedroom. Now that I look back he was definitely on the upper hand of that deal! LOL Free labor! :)

Sam, that was a great tip about saving the split wood! My grandfather, who was a carpenter, used to tell me to flatten the nail tip or screw if you know there is a risk. Usually just hammer the tip against the concrete or whatever you have that’s solid, eliminating the sharp end. What did you do for a living before this channel? You seem to be pretty edumacated, as my wife would tell me. Let me guess, stand up comedian. Love your sense of humor, I tend to have a little bit in my soul too. Sam, I appreciate your candor. Wood has skyrocketed everywhere as we are cooped up in our little world's and finding free time we needed to DIY our humble homes. I am so thankful for the savage wood I have on my property. None of the projects I am working on this summer need the strength or integrity of new solid wood, thank goodness. But I do feel for those who are doing structural repairs and projects, as the wood producing industry is with fires and demand in over their heads this year. You are doing a marvelous job on the reroofing of your home. Stay safe, and "get her done".

You are doing an awesome job Sam. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I've got umteen of these speed squares and never knew the purpose of the numbers and how to figure out angles. I also feel your pain about lumber prices. Last summer at Lowe's i bought 36 of their 4x8 sheets of Smart Siding @ $25.00 a sheet. I am needing about 4 more sheets and now its $ 45.00 each. WoW.

Back in June, I purchased lumber from my local Lowes. The 2"x4" x 8' were $3.21 each. The 10 ft long ones were $4.12 each and the 16 ft ones were only $6.57 each. I was planning on putting a deck out front this fall, but with the cost the lumber is up to now, I don't see it happening any time soon. They are claiming it is because of the pandemic because the businesses that cut and mill the lumber aren't allowed to work and it is causing a lumber shortage. Once the lumber companies are allowed to return back to work, the lumber would come available, but I don't see the cost going back down. It probably remain high to line the companies pockets.

Progress! That's the thing that matters. A stop block on the mitre saw helps when you have to make a bunch of cuts too, or just a line on the table of it. Even if you have to extend the table out a bit further with a jig of some sort.

It’s coming along pretty well, Home Depot is 5 and some change and the same item number from Lowe’s here in Cleveland is 7.17 😬 Maybe some how at the end of the year you can write off the “business upgrades and call it a loss” 😏 since you can claim your home cell phone, gas, and auto gas cars insurance light bill as your business or no? This time last year I got top choice 2x4s for $2.60. They also just hit $8 at my Lowes over the weekend. It's insane. I'm a woodworker and it's becoming cost prohibitive. Of course I raise my prices to makeup for higher material cost, but people will only pay so much for something.

Not yet... it's not been listed for sale yet. First it was my procrastination and being busy but after driving it a bit around town recently I discovered it has a water leak. So I'll be diving into that issue and fixing it. Don't know that we'll sell it very soon after putting the money and work into it more, but we'll see.
